Default Rear back up camera quality. Is it bad or do I have a dud?

I just bought a '16 XLT with the 302A package and everything is sweet. The one thing I don't like is how hazy the picture looks on my rear back up camera. I have had several back up cameras in the past and they all have had great pictures.

So am I missing something here? Do our trucks normally have good camera resolution or could mine be defective?

No haziness with mine, though the resolution isn't extreme. I think the camera in our Flex might be have a bit crisper image.
Make sure the camera lens is clean/clear of debris?

Yeah, that's the first thing I checked. I was hoping the lens had some sort of clear plastic wrapping from the factory but it doesn't. I guess I have been spoiled by past back up cameras with better screen resolutions.

No complaints about mine. It is not crystal clear but it looks good.

Agreed, it's good enough for parking & hitching a trailer.

Compared to my 2011 F150, my 2016 camera quality is terrible.

You'd think 5 years later we'd have amazing HD cameras, unfortunately Ford seemed to take the route that 5 years later they found cheaper cameras......not better cameras........

Yeah, no doubt.

My wife has a cheapy Hyundai car with a back up camera and it looks better than my $40K truck's camera.

My '07 Chevy Avalanche had a better camera. Video looked better during the day, and when dark out it had almost a 'night vision' mode, where the F150 just seems to rely on the light from the back-up lights.

See if wiping it off helps. If not, take it to the dealer and have them replace it.
