Rear back up camera quality. Is it bad or do I have a dud?

Dumb questions here, but just thinking of easy options again... What about a super bright backup 3rd light bulb? Probably wouldn't even be noticeable I guess. Also what about LED tails instead? Or are those integrated too? I don't like the fact they would be bright when just driving down the road but could help with backup (although I think only seeing red on my camera/screen is half the problem I have right now).
There are multiple posts on here with people complaining about the light during backup on the BLIS trucks. Here is a just one of them to get you thinking

I have 2 6 leds wired into the reverse wiring of the trailer hitch. They give plenty of light and do not interfere with the trailer warning system.

I first had one light under the hitch, it was a great improvement. Since the package had 2 lights, I moved the first and put on the 2nd.
I’m very pleased with the camera performance at night.

I note that the backup camera image at night is kind of washed out. i suspect it has to do with the license plate illumination lights being mounted on either side of the license plate shining upwards. It is just a theory at this time. I have intended to put black tape over them to see if it affects the image for better or worse.

Having had cameras in a number of previous trucks and cars, and comparing it to the camera in my wife's Mercedes, I am actually satisfied with the camera in my truck ('15 Super Crewcab King Ranch). Maybe I got lucky or my standards are low??

Day / Night, these are terrible either time. Not sure if the '17 are worse than 15-16s. Was watching a YouTube video of a guy in a Gen 2 Raptor the other day. When his B/U cam showed in the video, it was the same hazy look mine has.

This post and many others show how hard it is for a manufacturer to please all of their customers. Some must forget that just a little dust on the lens is going to reduce the image quality. The camera on a car is usually tucked under the trunk lid lip right above the license plate. On a truck it's out in the open on the tailgate. And others seem to want a 4K ultra high definition camera and display.
