Default Really?? No Heavy-Duty Payload Package, with 501A or 502A

Need more tow capacity, about 11,000lbs, a boat.. Just got back from dealer looking at F250, way to big for me IMO. A F150 with the HD payload would of been perfect, the catch is you can't add 501A or 502A package and get it too. Really don't want to switch brands either. Any thoughts?

Do you need max payload or max tow? Max tow should be available if you select the 3.5 ecoboost and you can tow upto 11,400lbs+ with 4x4 with 3.73 or 3.55 gears.

F-150 w/ Max Tow (3.5L Ecoboost, 3.55 e-locker, trailer brake controller, uprated stabilizer bar, engine and tranny coolers, etc.) will tow 12,000lbs.

No need for HD Payload.

It's never about power to get the load moving, it's about the power to STOP it. Just because an F-150 CAN tow 11k lbs, dosnt mean you SHOULD...

I towed my boat, a 9500lb Tiara with my 08 f150 and a 5.4. But it was 10-15 miles at a time, a few times a year, and being a wide load I was limited to 45mph anyways. Worked fine for that. If I was towing further or more often, a Super Duty would be in order for sure.

Pretty much same deal, except its beam is only 8'6" so not a wide load.

What kind of boat is this that weighs in 11000lbs??

Me personally I have no interest in towing 11,000lbs worth of boat with a 1/2 ton truck, that is 3/4 ton or better territory. JMHO

Daybreak,, I fully agree that many people go over the top with towing, but I would argue that it is a proper braking system balanced with a tow package that has the power to stop it. Not as much as the TV. Often I use the trailer to do 80% of my braking.

Disagree. That 11,000 pound boat will have a tongue weight of about 1000 pounds (give or take). Tongue weight is part of payload. That leaves little room for passengers and gear. This is based on actual payload reports I've seen on the forum (about 1400-1700 depending on options).

Towing and Payload are two different things.

To the OP's original question: I too am shocked you can't get the 501A/502A in the HD payload package. In fact, there's no combination out there that will allow you to have remote start with the HD payload. That makes no sense....

Can anyone tell me what a Platinum 4X4 SB will tow? I was looking through the 2015 yellow stickers people have posted and it seems that if you had four passengers, male, beer drinking types, 200lbs a pop your looking at 800 in capacity. So you would need 1000lbs in tongue weight 10% of 10,000lbs = 1800 payload. You would be overloaded by the stickers Iv'e seen.
