Ford definitely has better transmission tuning than GM. The broader torque of the EB probably helps as well. Conversely, my 09 Silverado feels a bit smaller and nimbler(handlingwise) than my 13 F150.

This article was plain stupid. And I am not a ford or chevy fanboy by any means.

1. Cost - yes the ford was a supercab, it looks like according to the specs they quoted it didn't even have the trailer package so it was legally rated at 5k lbs of towing.
2. Besides mileage the Ram was inferior in every single category of performance.
3. In the end, the ranking should have been 1. ford 2. chevy 3. ram. The Chevy is not, and never will be a bad truck. It is simply outclassed by the lighter turbo ford. It ran well (just not as well) as the Ford in every driving test...however MT kept complaining that it 'felt big' 'felt slow' etc even though the numbers didn't show that...such nonsense, embarassing really for the rag that is that magazine.

Also, does that crew cab ram really have a 10 foot shorter turning circle than the Ford or Chevy? Sounds a bit iffy...39 feet is midsize sedan turning radius...

I was a bit annoyed about them complaining about the tail gate step. They made out like its a ten minute process to setup? id rather take a moment to set up the tail gate step then have retarded looking bumpers with a step in them.

I too find it amusing they talk so much about the "feel" of the speed of each truck while the numbers show the F-150 blowing the other two away. I'm not a GM fan as I've had to drive one at work every day for many years. I'm not a Chrysler fan as I've owned two (T&C minivan and Wrangler 4dr) of them and had nothing but problems. Fool me twice, shame on.......me?

One more thing, I know it's apples and oranges but what's the 3.5 EB gonna look like performance wise compared to these trucks. I'm excited to see the speed and towing test results when they have them.

I was impressed with the speed and fuel economy of the f150 but it's a completely different truck than the other two. THAT 2.7L really goes. I wonder if ram will up the payload when the Nissan Cummins arrives.

It all depends on the configuration of the RAM, if you visit www.rambodybuilder.com the RAM has a payload of 1270 lbs for a 4x4 crew cab. The air suspension and Ram boxes lower the payload for the vehicle tested. Just like Ford has two different vehicles rated for different payloads. My 2012 F150 Ecoboost had a payload of 1250 lbs and 2013 6.2L has a payload of 1780 lbs. Both vehicles are Lariat trims, but the 6.2L has the higher GVWR for whatever reason.

Ram markets their vehicles to a certain market who'll mostly utilize their truck for small chores while Ford likes to brag about numbers, but both trucks are capable for the average buyer. Most people are loyal on this board to Fords while others can care less. I've owned Rams before and had no issues with them and each vehicle has their pros and cons. Going forward, I hope Ford fixed their condensation and timing chain issues for the Ecoboost on the 2015's.

Retarded they may look but they work. Unless the tailgate is down. Ideally we'd see both on one vehicle.

I'd rather have something look a little silly and be functional...

The article's complaints about the step are baseless though as you noted.

Disagree on the GM step functionality. Tried one out at the autoshow, way too high for people not as mobile as they used to be or if you have a bad knee / hip it's pretty well useless. And I'm pretty sure I cracked the plastic.

bsboothe, Ecoboost's timing chain stretching worries me more than anything. That seems to be a problem that WILL happen at about 75,000 miles or more. I read.
