Real life comparison of 3.5EB vs V8

If I lived at 6500 it would have been a huge factor in deciding what motor I got. I assume if you live at that altitude there are much higher roads nearby. Having had a few turbo cars IMO this discussion tends to be petty, but at altitude it's a whole new game.

Coming from an '09 4.6-3V with a 6-spd, I think the 3.5 EB 10-spd is awesome. Honestly, I'd prolly think the same thing if I was driving the new 5.0 NA.
Towing with the new truck is a no-brainer, and the fuel mileage gains while hauling a load are impressive given the increase in performance, HP and torque.

Hey, my truck doesn't have an ecoboost badge, but it's ecoboost. Ha ha. Even with more issues than the EB when I bought my truck a few months ago, I'd have chosen the V8 if it was offered with maxtow, for the extra cooling here in hot TX. Still don't understand why Ford doesn't offer it with the V8, but maybe there's a compelling reason. So 'settled' for the EB. By the way, what was baffling to me is why the hell Ford put fake V8 sound on a V6 truck? That's stupid. I love the natural V8 sound, but not going to pretend my truck is a V8 when it's a freaking V6, so disabled it (it was annoying/boomy too). Prefer it quieter inside, but even more outside, since V6s sound like crap, including the Raptor. Just for that reason I wouldn't buy one, even if I had any use for it. Anyway, wish my V6 was even quieter inside, since it's not that quiet... but at least it sounds better than an I-4. Ha ha.

Its more of a real life story than a real life comparison.....
I think anyone with half a brain knows the 3.5 or 2.7 with turbos will tow better than the 5.0 at elevation. But lets be real, if you are THAT worried about towing, a 3/4 or 1 ton diesel would be sitting in front of that trailer.

Real life comparison?
OK - the 2.7 is the Corporate CAFE engine - plastic oil pan and all. Don't work it hard or you will regret it.
The 3.5 - lots of torque, but don't believe the original advertising (V8 power / V6 mileage) because pulling a heavy load they drink more fuel than a 6.2.
The 5.0 - good all around engines, that seem to have fewer issues than the EB, but I can't prove that one, because all we hear about here is problems, usually nothing about the 99.+ % that have no mechanical issues.
I can tell you for certain that my mileage varies greatly depending on speed with my 5.0, and mine is the old technology 6 speed, not the 10 speed.
13.7 mpg at 86 mph, 19-19.5 mpg at 65mph and if you want to drive like you're 90, or a chevy driver, and go 55 it'll turn 25 mpg.
