Good info thanks. My truck is scheduled to be built March 4th, and be done end of March, early April. My question is this, is it even worth starting this negotiation/worksheet process until you make what you "think" will be the last payment on your current truck? I mean in my case...this Friday I make a truck payment...if I had all the negotiations done in the next few weeks, wont it just get messed up again on like March 22 when I make another payment? My state (PA) is also one that doesnt charge mileage for replacements.

You Obviously don't need to be in a hurry being that you have a while before your truck arrives. Once they have a vin# tho, they should be able to do your worksheet. Negotiations I think could start once they send you the first offer. Ignore the line on the worksheet that has your current payoff amount unless it's far off. That number will not be accurate until the day you sit down with the financial guy at the dealership. The number you need to focus on is the customer participation amount. This is the amount of difference between the two trucks that will be added to the loan payoff amount.

Default taxes

Just wanted to share something else that I am going through right now. Sat down with the dealer to sign the paperwork, and the numbers were all wrong!! Dealer wants to charge me tax for the entire vehicle price when I should only be taxed on the upgraded difference amount. second they want to create a new loan with a high 3.5% apr compared to my current 0.0% apr. I requested a substitute of collateral to keep my current loan at 0.0%apr. by doing so I need to pay the upgraded difference out of pocket which I am ok with that. So currently I am waiting for the substitute of collateral paperwork to be settled between the dealer and Ford credit. The dealer spoke with my case agent and learned that I will only pay taxes on the upgrades, so that part is now sorted out. by the way the difference in taxes is $1200 for my situation, so don't let the dealer fool you. The truck has been sitting at the dealership for about a week now and things are finally getting close to being finalized. Lastly I would like to share what my dealer is doing for me. They are processing this case through their commercial sales department which allows me to avoid the $699 doc fee. The doc fee is something that you should try to avoid paying, being that you already paid a doc fee when you purchased your lemon. Good luck to all that are dealing with this nightmare.

Read state law make sure what they are suppose to pay!! To drive off in truck I paid doc fee and license fee. I then chased RAV to refund as it is in the state law. They often don’t follow law but you can show them the law and they will then follow it. The reason you don’t pay license and doc fee is you paid it on the first truck already!! That is paying twice for something you shouldn’t same with tax as it was paid on old amount you only are tax on difference in most states.

good luck everyone....

Hmmm. I just paid almost 500 in doc fees and registration and what not. Called RAV and they said it was on me. Now I’ll have to look that up.

Go to your state site show them the language. Plus they should apply this the same for all Customers or follow law. I got my money and showed link and language. Many things in the law aren’t followed without you forcing them. Example they owe you replacement MSRP for same vehicle not MSRP you paid. That one is pretty uniform across states. They owe you the exact same truck zero costs accept mileage based on state law. Some give you so many free NY, my state is miles before issue you owe. They generally waive the mile fees.

Default doc and title fees

I just recently went through the RAV program and it was HORRIBLE! My problem now is that I was assured through the whole process by my RAV lady that I only had to pay fees on the upgraded amount. When I finally got my paperwork to tag my truck it only had the loan amount and nothing showing where I did the RAV program and showing the upgraded amount. I got the paperwork on Thursday and it had to be tagged by the next Wednesday or I would get penalties. I called my RAV lady Debbie to ask her some questions but as usual she wouldn't answer the phone or call me back so I called the dealership to ask if they knew if there was a certain paper I needed so I didn't have to pay the full amount again. They said just go to the tag agency and talk to them because they didn't know of a paper but they had never done this before. Tag agency had never heard of it and said I had to pay full amount so I decided to wait and try to talk to Debbie again. I called her again on Monday and she said the dealership was supposed to register the truck before I got it so I wouldn't have to pay all of that but she wouldn't call the dealership and explain anything because she said it was in their paperwork and they should've read it. So finally Wednesday on the day I have to tag it I talk to Debbie again and she just tells me the dealership should've done it and finally called them. When she called the dealership she told them to get her a paper saying they don't add the fees into the loan and that I would have to pay the full amount which was $1608 and they would pay me back. She also said because I had to do another loan that I had to pay the full amount but then changed her mind and she said that's not her dept when I said I told her from the beginning I had to do a new loan because my credit union wouldn't just swap VIN's and if I would've known I had to pay all of this AGAIN when I just paid it last year then I wouldn't have done this. So then she asked her boss and got back on the phone and said yes they would give me my money back just send in the paperwork. All paperwork has been turned in and I emailed her today to find out if she's heard anything and she said the finance dept rejected it because according to my state if the dealership didn't roll it into my loan it's my responsibility to pay it. (Obviously I could pay on the upgraded amount of $955 so it needed to put in my loan but not having to pay the full $1608 AGAIN! Also if it would've been put in my loan that means I'm still paying again!) Anyway she said she was also advised that the person who said they would pay it should haven said they would pay it and he is no longer there to override the finance team and of course it wasn't put in writing.

So my question is...........Does anyone know anyone else I can call to try to get my money back? I feel like I can't get anywhere with these people. Most of the time when I call if I try to call for a supervisor they still send me straight to Debbie or a blank VM.

Sorry for the long and probably confusing post.

I do not know who you can call, but I do know a lot of these matters vary state to state, especially with taxes. I’m NY I only had to pay tax on the upgraded amount because i did a replacement. I also had to pay title, doc etc from motor vehicle. This is due to NY, not RAV.

RAV did give me bad info along the way but I didn’t take it personally because all 50 states have different lemon law guidelines and I didn’t expect RAV to know them (because they are idiots.)

Good luck
