I'm really surprised by how much "safety" ratings are brought up. Shoot, I run around a lot in my 32 Ford that has basically zero safety crash features that are included in trucks nowadays. I do have a rollcage and seat belts to pass a drag strip safety inspection. I never give crash tests a second thought.

Everyone has a different reference point on safety, pending past incidents. I sincerely hope you never have to consider it. Unfortunately, at the time many who never give it a second thought do finally consider it, it's usually too late.
But aside from saving your life or keeping you out of a wheel chair, I feel the structural engineering prowess of a mfg'r is a good barometer for it's engineering abilities in general. It's not an easy task to engineer in structural integrity to perform well in tests like the narrow off-set. For mfgr's who can't succeed, makes you wonder what else they fall short in.

My thoughts exactly.

oh Yeah, colission avoidance, they told me I could never run into anything. Said prove it, let's drive it into the building. They declined but said they would be happy to set up boxes in the parking lot and watch it stop itself. It took out the boxes. Had to cut the sensor wire and live with a warning light because pulling into my garage, it would see the garage, slam on the brakes.. 1st time thought my head was gonna go thru the window
There was someone wrong with your FCW then. They don't detect stationary objects. Only things slowing down.
