thats good to hear. My rims are mint except for the peeling. Hoping they get replaced under warranty. Then i may just buy new and sell the replacements as i dont believe the new ones will be any better.

Probably a good idea. I don't see the replacements lasting any longer. The dealer said it was about a $4500...had it not been warranty. But again, that's at the fully inflated markup. You can get a really nice set of wheels for that kind of coin...and they would last more than 3 years. Good luck!

I have exactly the same wheel... they flaked exactly the same way.. Ford replaced all 4 of them at around 34,000 miles (I waited till near the end of warranty to complain.)

Pretty common, and yes... shoddy quality is the problem.

I'm going to get them to take pictures of mine to send to Ford as well when I get an oil change in a week or so.

Tires have never been changed, so they're virgin rims/wheels.

That's exactly what I did. You should be in good shape with the assumption you don't have any curb rash on your wheels.

With no curb rash and no tire changes, and no obvious use of a harsh chemical (the rest of the finish looks good), there's no way Ford can deny a warranty claim. But I'm baffled how that kind of damage can occur without hitting anything. If it's possible, then it'd be unfair to deny such claims. At any rate, I think we all can agree that finish is crap, but the better question is why did Ford use it??? Why not just polish the aluminum wheels? Or is that coating to mask an inferior quality of aluminum that makes the wheels cheaper, even when coated with that crap? Just curious how that stupid coating came to be. It doesn't even look nice; it's 'cloudy' (not uniform) since new, and I bought it right off the truck. Weird.

The bottom line... it is cheaper then polishing and clear coating the aluminum. Straight up!
