Purpose/when do you use sport mode?

It also adjusts the throttle response, so a light pedal pressure adjusts to a higer pedal pressure. So 20% throttle in sport mode might actually be 50%.
However, a truck in sport mode, and a truck in normal mode at FULL THROTTLE will be exactly the same. The sport mode might hold each gear an extra 250rpm, but is negligible in a street race.
However, moot point, as sport mode is great anyway.

Its amazing!!! It got the shift points much better after a 93 custom tune and much better throttle response in sport mode!!! Dropped .3 seconds in the quarter mile just because the thrittle response off the take off.

I started using the sports mode yesterday in town and it drives a lot better, not constantly downshifting. I also block the 5 and 6 gear with the minus dial on the shifter. It works like the old style overdrive transmissions. It goes into 4th gear at forty miles per hour and then back to third when you slow down to thirty. It's nice the only thing I don't like it having to remember to put it in sports mode and then blocking out 5th and 6th gears.

I use it when driving to work on streets where I drive between 20 and 35 MPH. Many times I will be going 20 MPH at 1,000 RPM's and the transmission is in 4th gear. It feels like the engine running at too low of an RPM level. Using Sport mode keeps the RPM's a little higher. This is with the 3.5L EcoBoost.

I notice quicker throttle response and makes truck feel more alive It also deactivates auto start/stop, but I do notice lower MPG as expected. I'm an older Gent. so I leave it in normal mode most of the time enjoying 19-20 MPG city driving.

Another old thread resurrected!
When do i use Sport Mode?
When i want to spend extra money on gas.
Which is somewhere between seldom to never.

I didn't notice anything when I first tried it, other than the higher RPM at a given speed. I was heading to work so it was straight driving and then onto highway.
Then I tried it when driving around town and I could feel the difference. The way I describe it, it drives closer to how a lighter sportier car drives. It did kill my mileage though so I rarely use it.

it does not allow to get into top gear untill way later too which I like.. The sport mode is a huge difference in my truck.
