+1! Why buy something with 90k when you can have less than 1k for the same price.

Well the reason is I was comparing a top of the line truck with a bottom one, both used to "save" money. But yes I agree with you guys, it seems stupid to do that now that I see I can get a new one in the mid 30s equipped how I want it.

I keep coming across white ones though! I found a bright silver one which I suppose I could do although it looks like white in some lighting too.

I hate chrome, but how does the painted bumpers and parts hold up with bugs over time? If the fake chrome they use nowadays still holds up better than paint I would be willing to deal with it.

i'd look into clear bra if you get one with the painted bumpers. well worth the money.

My "real" budget is 30k, but I was willing to stretch it closer to 35k, i guess I should have stated that. To stretch it again to 40k isnt going to happen. I did that last time and ended up with a Raptor lol. 3 years later I am selling it. I am trying to break the cycle and get something I will enjoy AND drive every day AND get really good mileage on my work commute.
Are you saying your budget is $35k AFTER trading the raptor? Or is it $35k plus raptor? What do you owe on it? The V8 raptors hold their value exceptionally well. Dealers award competitive trade in values because they know they can sell the truck to one of the many buyers that have no interest in a V6 raptor. Even a SuperCab 2012 Raptor is floating around a $30k trade value.

The combined cash and trade value should get you into a brand new loaded Lariat or even a platinum at the right dealer. Given how often you trade trucks it may be better to take the Lariat. You should be able to get a nicely equipped 2017 in the $45-$50k range out the door. Unless you still owe a chunk of change on the raptor you may end up keeping some of your cash.

I mean 30-35k loan after all said and done. I thought I had some equity in my raptor (owe 28k). I figured if I had 5k in equity I would put it back into the new truck and bring the loan down a bit.

One dealership low balled me an offer of 29k on my raptor. KBB is from roughly 29k-40k depending on options and condition. Mine is not excellent but I considered it good, and roughly mid range around 33-35k. They say they just dont sell so they cant offer any more, and that they don't use KBB so that doesn't mean anything to them.

Dang, found two white XLT's equipped how I want them that maybe I could deal with, the silver one turns out to have hail damage which is why it was about 3k less than the white ones. In that sub 40k range it is really hard to be picky. I found some colors I want, but all either are missing the 302A group, or have the 23 gallon tank which I will not do.

This one is pretty close to what I want, except I hate white. Man, full warranty, brand new for about the same price I was looking. It is about 3k higher than the 2016 with 28k but I could live with that I suppose. I will have to research any changes to the 2.7l or the truck in general between the years.

Anyone ever get a truck of a color you didn't like and it grew on you? Maybe since I am sitting in it and can't see much of the paint maybe I wont care what it looks like from the outside lol.
Careful with those "dealer prices" they usually are all the incentives in place, which you would probably qualify for maybe 20% of. I hate all the Ford dealerships that do that ****. its just a way to get to you come in.

If you're willing, you might come down to TX. I bet you'd get a better offer on the raptor and it seems like the deals on 2017s are a lot better here at the moment.

I walked in to my local dealer, got $8000 off a lariat and 1.9% first offer. So assuming they give you the low end of what you want for the raptor, you'd be looking at around $34 - 36k.

Wow I've never ran into that before. I would never pay MORE than the posted price. Maybe things have changed, it's been 5 years since I bought new one, but every car/truck I bought new(and used for that matter) was either lower in person once agreed upon or worst case the same as online if it was really discounted already.

don't forget the ahole dealers who use the total before discounts instead of the blue box msrp when posting online prices.

I would be willing to travel if I find a perfect deal. Most places won't offer you anything on trade until they see it though.

I bought my Raptor in Oklahoma. The last few purchases have been out of state because the dealers here do not seem to appreciate customers. I mean I've bought hundreds of thousands with them over the years and they still lowball me and aren't willing to work on price so I buy elsewhere now.

It's funny when they call me a week later and ask about another deal they came up with. Hey when I come in, deal with me then, I don't play that game where I wait weeks and make multiple trips. Give me your best price and I move on and do the same until I find a deal that I like.
