Default Pulling hairs for dealership quotes...

Just sorta venting here but I've emailed 15 dealerships my build sheet for a Lariat 502 and have heard back from all but 2. Then once they hear it's a custom order for a specific truck I don't hear back. I've only got 1 quote and it's not even that great. 1 other place said they'll beat any price but hasn't provided their number. I would have though that for such an easy sale more places would reply. Guess I'll widen my search area. I am in the Reno area and often down in the SF bay area for work so I have contacted many of the dealers along hwy 80 and even a handful in Las Vegas. Ideas are welcome. Maybe I'll try Oregon...

Also, I found a link in another thread for the PCO and the website is up but I haven't tried to fill it out yet. Any one know if it's still working or is the site up just not functional? I just don't want to try yet because I'm not sure how long it's good for if it does go through. How does it work?

Do you know how long you can continue to place orders for 2018 trucks? I suspect the deadline is approaching.

Have you considering purchasing from inventory on their lot? You may get a better deal if you are flexible in your requirements.

Last I saw, the PCOs were good through July 9th.

Through August 10th.

Some dealers just don't want to deal with custom orders - which I've never understood. I always work with a fleet guy... he's used to doing custom orders and doesn't give a crap if he sells from an order vs off the lot. Maybe call the local Fleet dept.? Ideally, one that's used to handling large truck orders.

I'd rather wait for my own custom order, don't want to pay extra for the options I don't want. I mean unless I find a truck that has everything I want and maybe1 or 2 other options and they discount heavily but I think that's unlikely.

Thanks for the info on 2018 order closing. I didn't realize it was this soon but looks like I should have just about a month. Can't imagine the 2019 being any different from the 2018 since it was a refresh.

How do I find a fleet dealer? Never thought about that.

These guys are commissioned based so theyre probably after that quick easy sale and another factor is a lot of these guys might not even be there in the 2-3 months to collect their commission when the sale finalizes. My buddy is the finance manager at the local toyota dealer and its a revolving door with new sales guys. This is also not an easy sale for them because they have a 1/15 chance to sell you a truck, also imagine how many other joe blows are spamming them with "whats your lowest price emails". It would be way easier if they had you in the dealership lol

Great point about not being there when the truck comes in to collect their commission. Hadn't thought of that.

I understand they probably get a lot of emails for pricing but seems to me when they get an email about a custom order they might think here's a guy that knows what he wants and has done some homework so maybe give him a competitive price, they know what a good deal is. Then go from there.

Anyway, great point, thanks riptide.

So I just got off the phone with one of the dealers. Told me stock is slim right now cuz of the plant shutdown a while back (forgot about that). So finding an existing match somewhere is going to be harder than normal, in fact he looked out 1200 miles and only found 2 close matches and wasn't even sure they were still available. He's looking into those and will get back to me.

Also said Ford isn't taking custom orders for 2018's anymore and that his dealership is taking orders for 19's already. Not sure the truth there but think I may have to regroup and delay the purchase for better deals on 19's to drop.

Yea... most dealers are much more interested in moving a truck from Inventory, than they are in ordering you a custom truck... Just go with the dealers that responded.

You can order a 2018 up until Aug. 10. It's possible that the dealer you spoke to used up their allotment quota. The're not going to start building 2019's until Oct. 22, so hopefully you can wait until Dec. or Jan. to take delivery.

i mean i get the idea they want to get an inventory truck off their floorplan, but a sale is a sale. i would at least give a price quote.
