I was having the dealership install my 5100's on all corners and they said they cannot install the fronts without some additional hardware....The strut/plate mount won't come off the OEM strut because of a "pressed cap" - PICTURED.
Has anyone else run into this before? They, nor the 4x4 shop here had ever seen it. Do I just simply need to order a separate set of strut mount plates and leave the originals on the OEM shocks? Any help is much appreciate,thank you!

 

That cap just gets knocked off with a hammer.
