Question Problem with 2016 2.7L Ecoboost

2016 F150 2.7L Ecoboost 127k Miles 2WD Completely Stock

I just bought a truck and I am a little concerned with how it is sounding. I am not used to driving an EcoBoost so I may just be paranoia or ignorance. I will try and post a video in the replies but the file size is too big

I recently replaced the seal on the vacuum pump because it was leaking. But since I bought the truck it has been sounding off to me and I can't describe it. But it sounds funky when I go ~ 30mph. I believe it is the turbo but I don't know. It's like a loud whine then when I let off the gas it is a deeper whine.

Also, when I go 60mph (literally the exact second I hit 60 in 6th gear) there is a vibration on the gas pedal and steering wheel. It also has a very hard time going above 60 until I reach about 70. Also, this may just be a truck thing but my RPM doesn't drop when I coast over 60, even downhill.

Did also recently get a P0430 code but I cleared it and it hasn't come back on yet.

P0340 is a camshaft position sensor code. Time to get it checked out. 430 is catalytic converter efficiency. Should check the O2 sensor also to be sure it is sending correct info.

The best way to post videos here is to first post it on youtube then put the link to it here.

Does it smoke when you first start it in the morning?

Only when it’s super cold (well Texas cold of 30-40°) pretty normal for our vehicles tho.

I mean a blueish smoke, burning oil on cold start. Not normal white (steam) condensation being burned off.

Generally, no the rpms won't drop coming off the gas to coast in your truck. The torque converter is locked in at highway speeds and 6th is your highest gear, so it can't upahift.

That’s what I figured lol my old car dropped a lot when I eased off the gas but yeah makes sense for the truck.
