Predictions - the end of the 5.0

I was reading that earlier - interesting. I've been hearing rumors of a dual drive powertrain setup for performance vehicles but I figured it would be matted with a smaller motor.
Just like supposedly they are going to take the mustang chassis and CUV it up to make a CUV/shooting brake concept with 4 doors and all of the performance. I sort of hope they do because that'd be a great daily driver replacement for me.
anyway.
I do think the 5.0 is limited but I figure it's more like 10 years or so. Say 7-10. and the reasoning will all be over mpg's and packaging space.
but the 5.0 might live on as a 6.5 or something (not sure what the bores can be pushed out to) for the HD truck line. I could see that existing for a while longer.

Their doing away with cars, that's enough getting rid of stuff! V8 is too American, they have to keep it for a long time!

The V8 is an icon for the brand... They can do what they want to make it larger or smaller... Hybrid or not, I do no see them getting rid of an icon.

It'll be around for awhile. Heard a rumor from a guy that works for Ford that the 5.0 will be reworked very soon though because of it's current issues. Who knows, but it would not surprise me.

5.0 will be around forever, question is, will it come from the factory super charged or turbo charged somewhere along the line.

I don't see (v8) it going away unless gas prices went through the roof (6 bucks a gallon) or it was mandated by the gov't that vehicles can only have a specific amount of displacement. Now saying that they could maybe drop the 5.0 with maybe a smaller v8 with a turbo or an electric assist but I don't work for Ford so I can't say what their plans are.

yeah they will always produce a v8.
you know someone back in the 20's probably said - they will always make a straight 12, and I bet someone in the 50's said nobody will ever want disc brakes except for racing.
Short of reducing the number of cars on the road - and I see that happening too. Eventually we will all drive something electric if for no other reason than because efficiency. they might be turbine powered hybrids.
Also something else to note - while that hybrid depiction shows a 8 cylinder in the drawings I don't think it explicitly says it's the 5.0 V8. It might be the 4.4L ecoboost V8 (3.5L with 2 more tacked on - minus a little bit of volume in the bores).
anyway I stand by my other comment I give it another 10 years. and I bet Ford is done with the V8 before GM or FCA are. Ford has more viable products today than either of them.

If Ford doesn’t produce a half ton with a V8 I’ll just buy one from someone who does...
