Default Pre-Owned Canada Trucks Sold in US

I've been looking for a 16 or newer pre-owned F 150 and noticed several SCREW Lariats that were sold new in Canada, then imported back to the US. Other than normal concerns of buying used, anything that might be of concern buying a Canadian truck? Can anyone shed light why the trucks were imported back to the US?

Exchange Rate is the main reason. If the truck is from Quebec or Ontario make sure you take a good look for excessive frame rust and or hidden frame damage (undeclared accidents).

with sales tax thats about 35k cad so 26/27k USD

rust and IC issues, many of them have been changed over or had an overlay installed, so if you have ANY IC issues, it will be on your dime

CarFax shows them coming from Ontario & Quebec. I'll delete them from my list now!

My truck came from Canada, had 2700 miles on it when I purchased it in Mass. sticker price was $72,447.00, it's a Lariat special edition. I paid $45,00.00

Yup, when the exchange rate is good like it is now US dealers come up here and buy up everything at auctions. They bring techs with them and will swap gauge clusters right there on the spot them ship them back to the US. The dealer in Quebec I just traded in my 2014 Sierra at last week said it would probably go to the US.

That sticker is in CAD. USD ~ $54,421.46. You got it for $9,000 off sticker.

My KR came from Canada. No problems except for a little blistered chrome on the ds running board which they replaced under warranty.

We buy from all over the country at our dealership including some from out of the country. The main things I see to pay attention to on Canadian trucks are front bumper rock chips and as mentioned above, frame rust. For the F150's frame rust isn't a big issue until you get past 3 year old trucks, then you will likely see some. It's a huge issue for the Chev trucks, terrible rust even for '17 and '18's. As for the instrument clusters, we have a company that does all of our converting for us. Everything is taken care of before it hits our lot, it's rare we have an issue with that.

Where do you think the Canadian rucks are built. For what its worth you can do a search and see trucks everywhere have rust underneath, I am in Alberta and my truck had rust underneath a month in. You will see people in the south with the same issue. If the money is right on it buy it. I wouldnt hesitate in buying a US truck.
