Didn't think you could get a 3.73 on the 3.5 this year... perhaps just a non production option?

Hah, I'm pretty sure I saw that 2015 doing a short test drive based out of my local Ford Dealer (Bickford Ford in Snohomish) earlier this week. I was on Highway 2 heading east and the 2015 was accelerating to join Highway 2. At the top of the hill, it turned off onto SR-9 to make the loop back to the dealership.

Kinda funny- Before I saw the front, I knew it was a 2015 due to the styling of the tailgate.

The guy said it had the 3.73's in it, and got about 22/23 mpg. Smooth drive, really quiet ride. I noticed the seat was set up a lot higher than the other one was. The roof is awesome and huge, the tailgate is extremely light, and the 360 camera is cool in tight spaces.
Was the 3.5 a 6.5' bed screw? If so, it likely had max payload if it had 3.73s in it... What other options did the truck have if you happen to remember? Currently it seems you can only get the base lariat w/ the max payload, so perhaps they'll change that when they actually start production of them as its late availability...

It was a SCrew, but had the 5.5 box on it. I don't remember all of the options it had other than the roof, nav., heated/cooled seats, side mirror lamps, led lights, and push button start. I did also notice that if you get the 40/40 seat with the console, the storage space is huge. The buttons for the climate control, heated seats, etc. are positioned better.
I do remember the guy mentioning the 3.73's when he was talking about the 4x4 system and e-locker, because I mentioned that I had 3.73's in my '12 with the 5.0 and off road package. He didn't say anything about them not being available.
He said the truck could tow up to 12000lbs and had a 2000lb payload.
I just wish there was more daylight, so we could see things better.

In fact, the way the skin kinda bent in and rebounded out, I see it could really cut down on door dings. It seemed very resilient. ....
So you're saying the body panels can push in and pop back out? Im imaging like a beer can?

Hopefully that is a preproduction issue. I don't want a truck with wavy sheet metal. Hmmm.

Im anxious to see one of these in person now.

To me the aluminum exterior metal was indistinguishable from steel.

Drove an XLT 2.7 4x4. It was shockingly quick.

Gold star for the proper use and spelling of indistinguishable!

I went to the 2014 Detroit Auto Show and tapped around the body and on the hood and there was no noticeable difference on the feel and the flex of the aluminum.
I think it's a perception problem not a reality.

I took the girlfriend to the northside of Minneapolis today for the drive event and I was pleasantly surprised. I thought there would be a mass of people and 1 maybe 2 trucks to drive. However they ended up having 4 different trucks 3 drive-able and one on display and when we showed up there was only 4 people and when we left maybe 6 or so. So here's the run down of what we got to do. Register at the booth and check out the model on display then hop in line to drive either the 2.7 or 3.5. They had a silver 4x4 XLT with the 2.7 EB in it, a white 2.7L ecoboost 2x4 xlt, a king ranch 4x4 with the 3.5 EB in the dark green metallic (can't think of the actual name) and finally a metallic black 4x4 2.7 XLT that was the display model. The only unfortunate fact was that all 4 had the 5.5 foot bed so I didn't get to see one of those, oh they were also all full size crew cabs. Side note: I currently drive a 2010 F150 and I would say I'm biased towards liking forward but I do have negatives and positives. I've never driven an ecoboost so it was cool to finally do that, overall the truck is obviously very well built and solid I personally like the new styling. In my opinion the interior is lacking in some areas, namely the seats, the front seat backs seem smaller to me and you don't form into them like on the 09-14's, also the rear seats appear to have lost leg room, I'm 6'3" and when I ride in the back of the old man's 2011 screw lariat it takes effort to reach the back of the front seat. I also noticed I sit higher in the back seat since I kept knocking my sunglasses off of my hat. The in dash unit is sweet color touch screen is well made as always, the new digital dash on the king ranch was epic! I love the digital gauges especially the boost gauge. I know it's a simple thing but I'm coming from a 5.4 so I don't get to play with turbos. Other than these few gripes the interior is very well made, especially the nice leather, heated, cooled, massaging seats in the king ranch. I almost fell asleep on my 5 minute test drive. I'll post a bunch of pictures and if it limits how many I can put it you'll have to check out my photobucket account. One last thing I don't know how it will be for others and will obviously change at each location but we were at a true value parking lot and luckily the highway ran right behind it so we went down a 4 lane backroad to a corner short stretch to the highway and then merged onto the highway so we got to see a little acceleration and then got back off the highway short road back in and back into the parking lot overall it is a short ride but they welcome you to drive every truck more than once if you want. (trust me I drove them all =]) Thank you to ford for putting on events like this it was cool to be able to actually see and drive the truck and feel welcomed to do so. Can't wait to start seeing these on the road! Feel free to ask any questions about my experience I'll be happy to share and I hope others can get out there and do the same so we can all compare opinions.

Now for all the pictures!
