Post 10 Speed TSB update
All I can say is, wow. This truck is SO Much smoother. The PCM update made such a difference in all driving situations. New wastegate, OIL pan, Two Iwes later, my Trucks better! |
TSB 18-2079 PCM reprogram 182079A
Everyone with a 17 ten speed should definitely get it. It certainly fixes the harsh cold shifts and the delayed shift lunging forward on the 1-3 shift. Mine is a bit less sluggish shifting but I was hoping for more. And it didn't do a thing for the start up noise. |
I would be happy if it helps the cold 1-3 shift. It does not take long for it to warm up, but should we really have to wait for that?. Will try and see if they will give me the update.

I did the update over the weekend, but didn't get a chance to drive the truck after I did it. I can't say if it will fix the issue, but if you are trying to get this update under warranty I would read the TSB and complain about the issue that it specifically addresses. Cold shifts are not part of the TSB and diagnosis instructions for the tech state to ensure the transmission is up to full operating temp prior to attempting to diagnose any shifting issues.

Thanks for sharing! So happy I saw this. I'm going in for quick service tomorrow. I just called them and they are going to reprogram this for me.
Been very unsatisfied with my transmission so far. It seems like it's in the wrong gear 95% of the time. Hopefully this will make a difference! |
Credit to tmcolegr for posting the TSB in another thread. I believe there is a thread for 5.0 10-speed TSB also.

Therefore it would think my driving style is more aggressive, thus maintaining a higher RPM shift point and not acting so sluggish. Just a thought? Would really like to not have the thing up shift so much. Mine bogs down soooo much I can't stand it. I also have the 1-3 issue and the cold shifts. |

Lawndart, any specific driving style you would recommend during the "learning" phase after the reprogram?

The auto learn is just stupid........whoever programmed that should be shown to the door. |
