Poll time!! Another which to buy 16 Lariat vs 17 Lariat or XLT
Arighty... I know these pop up all the time and beaten to death... I'll be brief with the details below... I have decent numbers and plan to buy tomorrow likely so who better to ask than the guys/gals here!
2017 F150 XLT 5.0 4x4... completely my choosing... sticker at $51,00ish... 302a, NO roof, no other real extras... planned to get a 3.55 locker, bare bones truck for the most part other than the 302 package...
PRICE $10,100 + my trade (includes $8700ish diff + $1300-$1400 add for leather I''ll definitely do)
2016 Lariat 5.0 4x4 on lot... sticker $56,000... 501, fx4, 5700 dealer miles already (dealership owner always drive truck), 3.31 locker, twin roof (don't care, but it's probably and add value later) tow package, nav and a few other little things... Because of the price increase in 2017, this has a little more stick value, but obviously already a "year older"
PRICE $13,000 + my trade
2017 Lariat 5.0 4x4... again my choosing... sticker around $56,000.. choosing NO roof (for the $ savings), and identical to the XLT above only of course it'll come with the 501 goodies. PRICE $15,600 + my trade
I have a SUV... going back to a truck... occasional hauling of a tractor trailer combo of 7500--8500 lbs tops and short trips... otherwise it'll be my daily driver which gives me the ok to go down to the 3.31el... past trucks 2011 FX4, loaded 3.5e/3.73 (a beast and really far more than I needed) and a short stint with a 2013 Lariat 501 5.0/3.55...
If I left something out, let me know! I'm a big heated leather fan... definitely like the other stuff, but that 302a is pretty nice... all three vehicles will have center console, XLT will be column shift since I want FX4 with not Sport package. Thanks!!!

I don't really understand the prices you quote. They are REALLY low compared to sticker.
FWIW, I drove both the 2016 and 2017 Lariats and found the 2017 w/ the 10 spd to be smoother.
Since none of the three options you've listed are 3.5l assume you won't get the 10spd regardless.
Also - I was able to get slightly over $9k off sticker - which isn't as good as some.....
I think the 3.55 gears are pretty "worth it" especially if you're going to increase tire size at some point.

17 Lariat, and I agree you should go with the 3.55 gears with the 5.0. You will give up very little gas mileage and will be much happier with the around town, off the line performance.

lol... yeah, I so love the quiet eco beast under the hood but I'll probably stick with a 5.0 this go around. Thanks!!
