Default Plug and play speaker upgrade 2018 xlt

I have a 2018 xlt 302a and have been disappointed with the speaker system in it. I knew going in that it would be a downgrade from my previous truck (a Sierra with the Bose system) but am now missing the sound. It just doesn’t have any low end at all and is super treble heavy. At any rate, I’m. It looking for any kind of super performance system with subs, etc. just want something that sounds good. Does anyone have any recommendations for replacement speakers that are plug and play? Is this even an option or will I need to amplify any replacement speakers beyond the factory system to hear any real benefit? Thanks in advance, I’m a total novice to the mechanics behind this stuff.

I did the Kicker VSS power stage and I'm happy. Kicker VSS at crutchfield

It includes a new amp for the factory speakers as well as the sub and the wiring harness is completely plug and play. It takes a few hours to install, but way easier than piecing together a system.

They say it's not compatible with 2018+ with auto stop/start but it works fine for me. I get a little amp noise when the truck first starts and the head unit is firing up, but no issues when the engine stops/starts while driving.

I have the same truck as you in a supercab. I added the Kicker Hideaway behind the rear seats via the stock connector in the pillar and forscan. I also changed the front speakers for Alpine S69C models in the stock woofer and Tweeter locations. It's world's better sound. It's still a tad bit Tweeter heavy when you crank it up really loud, but not awful, and you have to really crank it to notice. I had debated an amp, but don't think I'll need to do it after logging with this for the winter.

Edit: forgot to add that I just disconnected the center speaker and don't miss it at all.

This^^^

The factory “full range “ speakers don’t quite cut it like separates. Just upgrading the speakers and adding the hideaway will do wonders, even without adding an external amp. I’d suggest finding a way to use the factory mounts and harnesses with the new speakers.

Power Bass makes replacement plug in speakers. Only complaint is that it only highlights the need for a sub to balance out the highs. Even with the treble turned all the way down.

I put these in the front doors (removable tweeter in the A pillar):

And I put these in the back doors:

I have been VERY pleased. I have toyed with the thought of a small sub under the backseat, but I am 36 with 2 children. I need the storage more than I need the extra bass. Haha!

I'd start with the Kicker (or similar) hideaway and go from there. Makes a big difference and compliments the stock speakers well.

I bought these:

Save for an issue with the screws not holding the speakers tight enough to the brackets, I've been very happy with them. Better bass and much better treble. A worthwhile, inexpensive upgrade.

That looks wicked if you have the space in your truck. Wonder if it's secure and won't slide around.
