Great to know; I was actually going to use a Corsair 4GB thumbdrive that has a little orange light.

I used a SanDisk 8GB drive with no problem.
Worked great after formatting the drive fat 32.

Yeah, I suppose I am also not wanting to take up storage on my phone if I didn't have to. My phone tends to fill up fast with photos and videos, so if I could keep (most of my ) music separated on a stick, it'd be helpful. That's definitely a viable solution, though.

Memory sticks are super cheap now. I paid $40 for a 128 GB SanDisk and it works great.

Super stoked to report that I am able to play both MP3 & MP4/M4A files from my Corsair 4GB thumbdrive without a problem! The thumbdrive is FAT32 formatted, and I simply dragged the files onto the empty thumbdrive without putting them in folders. The second I plugged it in and chose "USB" as the source, Metallica started killing it. Yeah!
