Platinum Pricing ?

. Trucks (even with the sunroof) that were Max Tow with the 5.5' bed and tow mirrors are not listed on the dealer system as being available for trade at most dealers. A salesman that I know at a local dealer went out and looked for 3 trucks that I found and none of them could be traded to that dealer that is 4 miles from my house. So I made an appointment at the NJ dealer to have the truck that I bought prepped for a test drive so I could check it out to prepare to purchase it. These dealers know what trucks will be in demand and want to keep that sale for themselves.
But like I said in an earlier post, just because my truck was not to be traded to another dealer, that did not mean they did not work out a really fair deal that I accepted. At the end of the day, it could have cost me more in fuel and time to go to Stirling, VA to get a similar truck for the "WOW" price than pay a fews bucks more in south Jersey. Although, Virginia paperwork cannot be as difficult to complete as the crap I have to go through to get a car in New Jersey. At the end of the day, it was less than a car payments difference to step up to the Platinum from the 502A and purchase the truck locally instead of driving across the country to get a deal.

But whatever you want. But before you buy any Ford truck just scroll through all the threads on problems w 3.5’s, 5.0’s 10-sp tranny whines, lug nut failures, etc.
Before you get into long term debt in a depreciating commodity do your research.
Then just buy whatever you want but at least you’ve been warned.

Just based on statistics, you would need 3 times more customers to have problems with a Honda Civic to get equal amounts of bad press.
Edited to add...El Comandante posts nothing but negative stuff about modern Ford's while driving a $1,000 old 2v 5.4. The rest of us have owned multiple modern vehicles and been perfectly happy. Do I still like the old stuff? Yes, but I also appreciate getting 50% better fuel mileage along with DOUBLE the power.

This is complete rubbish. Ford sold darn near 1 MILLION F150's last year and was ranked Fifth in the JD Powers initial quality rankings. Are there lemon's? Without a doubt! However, it's the best selling vehicle in the entire freakin' country. Having a substantial amount of complaints just comes along with selling darn near ONE MILLION VEHICLES of that model.

Exactly! Better just drive my old POS.
Oh, wait, I own some of that also. Have a fox body Mustang that is truly a bucket. Granted, it's a really fast bucket that I've owned for a couple of decades. Also have a Honda that is known on forums for having multiple problems along with a VW that is also supposed to have issues. Don't get me started on my motorcycles that also have "reported" problems or the Lincoln that I traded in on my current, and third, F series truck.
Having owned domestic and foreign vehicles dating back to the mid-80's I can say that, at any given time, you can justify keeping your old POS vehicle because "the new stuff in junk" at any time in history is a usable justification, but the reality is that it just says you don't want to spend the money or can't afford to spend the money on something new.
ALL vehicles are a bad investment, but they provide me happiness.

I traded my xlt for an 18 platty a year ago. Don’t get me wrong it’s an awesome truck but my next will be an xlt. I’m a bluejeans type guy and do not like the platty, it was a midlife crisis purchase. I always wanted one so it’s done. What don’t I like? Guys at the car wash call me sir instead of dude. Fake azz money hungry ***** smile at me now instead of turning their head the other way. F that. I like things simple. What do I like? Feels like I’m in someone else’s truck and it’s luxurious (to me).
Sticker $66. Got it $55 before tax title fees and trade. way below invoice that’s best one can get in Chicago. Travel far you can do better, read top to bottoms thread on what did you pay.
Oh, got more than blue book on trade. I think the morons thought it was a lariat or something. Took them 9 months to offload it at a loss
look for a volume dealer and search the inventory before you go aka lots of plattys and short on lariats. Do not act interested in one look at the lariat. Glance at the Platty and say what about that one. I paid less for the platty that a lariat
