You know you can get a fully equipped Lariat which has everything the Platinum has for a few bucks cheaper and maybe more discounts?
I did a comparison and from what I gathered the Platinum over the Lariat had the massaging seats and lots of brushed nickel.
Just an idea...

I just bought a Platinum. Got $9,000 off sticker and $2,500 over KBB on my trade. There are probably better deals to be had with more negotiating, but that put me close enough to where I thought it was a fair deal. My truck was only a few days on lot so it didn't qualify for the 0 for 72, but did get 0.9 for 72. I specifically wanted a never test driven new to lot truck, so I'm OK with the .9% extra interest.
My favorite spec on the F150 is a fully optioned Lariat Sport, but those seem hard to come by.

As far as discounts, the only Lariat models that have more cash on the hood than the Platinum/KR trims are the trucks that are equipped with the 2.7L EcoBoost motor. Those trucks may have up to $11K in discounts towards the end of the model year while the V8 and 3.5L EcoBoost Lariat only get about $1000 which is the same as the Platinum/KR.

I had a hell of a time getting them to budge as much as I would have liked off sticker but I was able to get them to throw in spray in bed liner and tri-fold cover. No military or Ford Credit discount for me.

If you add up the price of the extras that you have to order "à la carte" on the Lariat but are standard on the 701a truck, then the difference in price between the two trims is less than a single truck payment. In fact, my configuration was about $200 cheaper than when all the options were added to the Lariat, but I had a lot of packages selected for both configurations and the Lariat that I wanted had the $300 price premium of the "Sport Appearance Package". So the upgraded leather and massaging seats only cost me $100 more than a Lariat 502a or $200 less than a 502a Sport. So the price difference between the two trucks is a wash.

I had planned on purchasing a fully loaded Lariat and found the 701A Platinum was less than the Lariat.
Couldn't beat Brandon Ford's pricing or selection anywhere
