Default Platinum - FX4 Off Road Option

I'm going to the dealer to place an order tomorrow and my build is currently as follows:

- Platinum Super Crew 4x4, 5.5' Box
- Luxury 701A Package (Tech Pack, Adaptive Cruise, etc...)
- 3.5L Ecoboost
- Moonroof
- Box Side Steps
- 33Gallon tank
- Max trailer tow package

I am unsure of
- FX4 Off Road Package
- Axle Upgrade

Suggestions? From what I can tell the off road package include heavy duty shocks, downhill assist, electronic rear locker & skid plates.....I wont be using this truck off road, and would be concerned about the heavy duty shocks decreasing on-road ride quality....although the electronic rear locker would be nice to have on road.

What axle are you guys upgrading to?

I ordered the platinum like you want it with the FX4 package. Dont be afraid of the off road shocks changing ride quality. Im coming from a raptor to a platinum and I can tell you the ride quality of the raptor on road is perfectly fine. That is until you turn sharp or hit the brakes hard. Alot of body roll on the raptor compared to the street machines. The FX4 shocks are just a little better than the street shocks when OFF ROAD, the on road ride is probably identical.

I went with 3.55 axle with Eco boost engine.

I've been looking in to this myself. Past 2 trucks have been FX4, but I'm leaning towards not getting it this round with the change to packaging. The max tow will get you the main aspects your interested in; 3.55 axle ratio (highest you can get without heavy-duty payload) and also gets you the electronic locker. You're paying another $770 for shocks you don't want or need, downhill assist you likely may not have use for, and skid plates you don't need if you don't go off road. My opinion, no value for you at all as you have what you want from the max tow. What color are you going with? I've been a Tuxedo Black guy, but the pics of magnetic colored platinum looks nice I need to see it in person though.

<edit> I also agree with the above post, no worries about the ride resulting from the shock upgrade so if you really want the FX4 stickers, go for it!

I too am having the same FX4 questions. I currently have a FX4 and not really sure I want to spend 700 on just a sticker. Really the only things I want out of the FX4 package is the e locker, skid plates and the sticker. I'll get the e locker with the max tow and I can order just the skid plates so $700 for just a sticker is going to be a hard decision to make. I will have to see what some of the trucks look like with the 4x4 and sport option. I don't know for sure what sticker they are going to put on a 4x4 sport. I have only seen FX4's with the sport package so far that I have been able to see. I saw that appearance guide, but the pictures of the sport sticker was not really good to get a clear picture of it.

I imagine a custom (better?) sticker could be obtained, or the factory FX4 sticker by itself as a part for much less than $700. Shocks and hill descent are the other components of the Off-Road package.

BTW, Daaaan, if you get one ordered up I'd be appreciative if you could post the order sheet - with or without prices, would just like to see what the order sheet looks like on the Platinum.

So you're considering an FX4 and an upgraded axle? Lol!

We have the locker and plates on our XLT W/O FX4. No need for and upgraded axle.

Kinda left field but a friend told me that a platinum pickup is not very prestige/luxury when looking at it from a non owner yet it costs 60K+.
