Default Platinum bumper question

I have a lariat with the chrome bumpers. I love the look of the platty front bumpers with the middle still being chrome flowing in sync with the grill and just the ends being painted. My question is, are the ends simply painted over the metal or is it some type of cap/cover on them that is painted?

Thanks

I'm curious about the half-painted bumper construction too. I've seen some accident pics where there have been severe bends around the border. Don't know if that's a coincidence, a significant accident can of course destroy anything.

Well if it is a cap then I assume it can ordered and installed on the Lariat bumper? I would be all over that just to break the chrome up a bit. I'm guessing it would be difficult to just paint the ends once fully chrome.

Thanks cobrajoe, anyone have an idea if they could be ordered and assembled to a Lariat bumper? Wonder if its assembled with an adhesive material or some type of clips?

You are the man, will look more into it, thanks. If i can get this done for less then $200 it a no brainer for me.

Will post back final details if anyone else would be interested in adding a little color to the chrome.

Thanks again...

I would imagine the the bumper has stamped holes for the caps to snap into. so the lariat bumper most likely would have to be changed to the platinum bumper as well

Seems from my quick research from what you guys have given me, the web, and the local ford body shop it can be done on the lariat bumper. Now have to decide how bad I want it, $172 for caps plus mounting hardware not including what shipping/tax would be plus $200-$250 to get them painted and installed so I'm in the $400+ range. Was hoping to be in the $250ish range. Will price around at other body shops and see.

Thanks, still worth it I think, looks so good and I still like a little chrome but breaks it up nicely.

the caps don't come painted, like you can get the mirror caps?

how do they mount to the standard chrome lariat bumper?
