Default Payload vs GMC Denali

Just got a peak at the payload sticker on a 2019 GMC sierra Denali with the 6.2L engine and 10 speed trany that someone at the office just bought

1,492 pounds

Says it squats too much with his horse trailer. So payload rating seems to be an issue with everyone.

BTW- my F150 with the 5.0 is 1,965

1500 lbs is a pretty good payload for a loaded crew cab 4x4. In past years, folks were looking at 1000-1200 lb payload. As far as his rear squatting, sounds like he got the wrong truck for the job. But I bet it will get the job done when he modifies it.

2007 - 987 lbs (7200 GVWR)
2010 - 1408 lbs (7700 GVWR)
2015 - 1535 lbs (7000 GVWR)

Each pretty fully loaded Lariats/FX4.

Gee, I have the barest/cheapest bare bones with a payload of 1976 lbs.

That's more payload than a lot of F150's have. The Denali is a high trim level with a lot of options, 1,492 competes very well with Ford and is sure to be higher than a comparable Ram or Toyota

You won't find a lot of fans of pulling a horse trailer with a half ton, especially if it's a bumper pull...

Pfft, top of the line Platinum with either the 3.5 or the 5.0 have nearly 1600 pounds. My 3.5 Plat will walk away from the DeNOTi towing a trailer. Oh and it does NOT squat hooked to a horse trailer!

A lot of F250's will be just a hair over 2000 lbs payload. F150 vary between about 1000 and 3000 depending on options. I've not looked closely at Chevy or Ram, but you can bet they aren't much different. It all comes down to the options they have.

And some Platinums have ~1,200 lbs of payload

1,492 lbs payload on a luxury trim crew cab 4x4 half ton is not bad at all.

I mean it's nothing to brag about clearly, but it's not bad. My dad's 2013 F150 XLT SCAB 6.5' with 3.5EB is less than that Denali for example, and those diesel platinums sitting on lots not long ago from 2018 MY were in the 1,200s. You want a joke, they're it.

What's the tongue weight of your horse trailer and what's the tongue weight of the horse trailer of OP's coworker?

I think the most expensive (over $60,000) F-150, the Limited is in the 1200 lbs range.

Yeah those trucks are loaded past the gills with fancy and heavy luxury features, really cuts the payload. That HO engine though, and those massaging seats.
