Default Panoramic sunroof repair - looking for instructions

I bought my first F150 a couple of weeks ago- a 2015 Lariat 3.5L EcoBoost Super Crew w/ 65k miles. I just ordered the seat cooler kit to fix Ford’s bad design and now I have a more serious issue. Second time using the sunroof, something has broken. When opening the shade, a rubber guard fell off on the driver side. My wife accidentally hit the button to raise the sunroof and I heard it move a little bit but then some crunching/grinding noise. When we arrived at our destination, I attempted to close the sunroof but nothing happened but the noise described earlier. Since it was going to rain soon, I tried desperately to get it shut (passenger side looked closed and the driver side partially raised, maybe 1/2-3/4”. Pushing down on the corner of the glass and hitting the close button worked, thankfully.

Now I’ve been reading non stop on this issue for the past couple of days. I’ve watched some how to’s, etc. but haven’t seen anything specific to the 2015 and up panoramic roof. All the posts I found were of people having to get warranty work done but I haven’t seen or read any DIY on this. I found a repair kit from The Sunroof Doctor but there are no pics or instructions for 2015 and up. Here is the repair kit: http://sunroofdoctor.3dcartstores.co...-Set_p_99.html

Can anyone point me to repair instructions for our truck? Thank you!

There is obviously a design flaw of some sort. After a local detail shop guy put his knee through my pano glass, I had it replaced. Sunroof has never worked right since-it pops, binds, leaks, or just doesn't work at all. It may work for a few days, maybe a week, but always screws up. Now its been to 2 separate sunroof/glass shops a total of 3 times, and still doesn't work. The last trip I even made them replace the track system because I assumed they damaged it in the swap... lasted a couple weeks. Going for number 4 soon... good luck!

Called the Sunroof Doctor and talked to him about the problem before buying the new lift arms he sells for the truck. With shipping I think it was $154. Evidently the 2015 and up is even easier to fix than the older models. The lift arms are a plastic and metal hybrid and both the left and right sides were broken in 2 places (the same place on each side). I opted to have a local shop do the repair for me as I have an infant at home and there's no telling when I'd have the time to complete it. Labor, shop materials and tax ran me $172 for the fix and they had it done in a few hours. I can't imagine it would have taken more than an hour to do. For anyone who cares, the basic instructions are as follows:

Open the shade
Remove rubber boots/coverings
Unbolt and remove the sliding glass panel
Unbolt the lift arms and replace. This can be done from the inside of the cab
Reinstall glass panel
Perform relearn/calibration procedure (Sunroof Doctor was nice enough to include a printout of the instructions in the box of parts)
99% of the time this is all that is required but on rare occasion, the headliner may need to be dropped just a bit in order to perform leveling if needed.

It'd be nice if you listed the calibration procedure. Without it, no sense in a DIY job . Hope my new 2018 never needs that, but it's good to know there's a kit to make it better. By the way, where are the 'rubber boots/coverings'? Just curious. Glad you could solve your problem. Hopefully it'll hold for a long time.

I agree, scan the calibration instructions in and add them to this thread, PLEASE.

The boots can be seen when you're sitting in the truck and you look up and slightly left - it's really more of a rubber accordion that hides the workings of the sunroof.

Where are you located - can you share the local shop you used to get this repair done?
