Pano sun roof leak
#13
Geez, another potential problem. Looking at closing the deal on a Platinum SCrew today. So what's the deal exactly with the leaks? Is it clogged drains? If yes, where the heck are they, to check them? If not, what else? Somebody said 'rails'. Is there a way to know they're bad, like difficulty opening, or something else? I'd like to scrutinize to hell the freaking truck I'm about to buy, and if I catch any of that crap, just don't do the deal. I'm looking at an even exchange, so no deposits, thankfully. Thanks.

There are drains that go down the A Pillar and drain behind the front wheels. In my case they were not clogged. The roof was leaking from the front seal, but the only way to replace that is to replace the entire roof. Just as an FYI the leaks are not covered under the ESP, I had to fight w/ Ford to get mine covered. Totally stupid that a 3 year old 50k truck has water leaks imho.

I mean really...how bad could they fck it up ? From before to after...I'm sure it will be much better!

Oh man; that's stupid. Sorry to hear that. So this issue seems to crop up after time? I thought it was a manufacturing defect. So how the hell it goes bad? And even if there's a leak from the seal (they hardly ever seal perfectly), the opening is supposed to be RAISED, so water always drains. At least all of my previous and current moonroofs are that way. So it's hard to have any leaks unless the drains are clogged or something. Bottom line is there's nothing to check on a new truck then, correct?

I would look under the drivers side dash. That's where the water from my leak ended up. The metal under the dash - the steering column meal brackets etc etc - all have surface rust from water dripping on it.

I guess I'm going to add my 2015 F150 Platinum to the list of panoramic sunroof leak list. My truck is typically in the garage, however, I've been doing some work on the house and have a table saw and saw horses set up in the garage w/the truck outside for now. It snowed and froze up the other night and when I went out yesterday, I braked at the end of the road and preceded to make a left turn out of our development when water poured out of the A pillar handle, onto the left vent and floor. I looked at the door seal and front window glass and didn't see anything that was of concern until I read all the posts here about the panoramic sunroof leaks. My truck only has 17,000 miles, so it doesn't get much use except for trips to Home Depot and/or dump runs.

Took my truck through a hand car wash over the weekend and noticed a small stream of water falling into the passenger side of what looked like the sliding track of the inner retractable head-liner. I felt above the driver's side as well and sure enough, there was water in there but not streaming in at the speed it was on the other side. I didn't notice any water inside the cabin though and at the time thought it was by design. Is it?
