When you order, or really when the dealer gets the order in - the price is locked. They are filling you full of BS and just want another $500. Rebates, etc are all off the table and only come into play when you are ready to sign the paper work and buy. Doesn't matter if there were $5K in rebates when you ordered, if they are expired when your truck gets in they are gone. Someone can correct me - but I think it is called the DORA - when they get that paper back and the order accepted by Ford (the dealer has to have an allocation for the order) then that price is locked. If the price increased a few days after you were in and they didn't get the order in to Ford for several days or weeks then I could see them passing the increase along as it would be part of your truck.

Once the order is in the system - that truck is priced and fixed.

He was just letting you know up front he was going to screw you if he could. Do you research on the facts - google and search for DORA. And if all else fails - don't lose any sleep over it - your MSRP sticker will be available soon on line - and it will be pasted right on the window of the truck - it should match the DORA if they already had the order in before the price increase.

Hum in Canada rebates are also lock-in unless they get better....you stay lock-in unless the overall gets better....ie you then have the new price.....and better rebates, not a chances for me....got a great deal.

Yes I locked in rebates and a private cash offer. He said I could take the combination of the two as they were when I ordered, or keep the private cash offer and take new rebates if they were better.

You had an agreement to purchase the truck upon delivery for X amount of dollars. I'm assuming they assigned a VIN in the contract and gave you a copy of said executed contract? Look at it this way, they can hold you liable for the contract if you try to go against the terms therefore they are also liable and in breach of contract if they are trying to sell it to you for above the purchase you agreed upon. Read the contract and see if it states that the purchase price is subject to change on the contingency of the factories MSRP.
If not either tell them to take it off on your trade in (if applicable) or they eat the money off their bottom line, of which they could definitely do. That's $500 you could have spent in aftermarket accessories.

A VIN sometimes takes weeks to be assigned to a build after a special order.

I actually posted this earlier, but it might be buried in the thread.

Basically they are going to install a Ford BedRug and mudflaps, and I am going to pay the roughly $550 difference. In the end its almost a wash, as I was going to buy both and put them on myself.

I did not even have to get mean or threaten to walk, often times cooler heads prevail. Just explained my position and they explained theirs. We then came to that agreement, I am completely satisfied with it.

This is the exact wording on the back of my Vehicle Purchase Agreement for my 2016 Lariat that is on order:

Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP):
The Basic Vehicle Price and the prices of the Optional Extras are the MSRP. If the vehicle is being ordered by you from the manufacturer and there are any increases in the MSRP after the date of this Agreement, the increases will be added to the Total Basic Vehicle and Optional Extras Price. If I refuse to pay the increase in the Amount Due on Delivery, you will have the right to waive the increase or to cancel this Agreement and return my Deposit.
