Just park your car in neutral and engage the parking brake...Ive done this for years in my manual car w/remote start.

I don't think people actually read the question and are just listing things they like about their truck. Since the question is about what is "universally" accepted as a "good" option and not about things I specifically don't regret on my truck, my vote would be for these.:

36 gallon tank
LED headlights (you can argue about not wanting to get the 502a, or hate when oncoming vehicles have them, but most people still wish they had them.)
HDPP frame
BLIS
4x4
Tail gate step (Lots of people don't care if they have it or didn't want it, but I don't think I have seen anyone regret having it if they do have it.)
Running boards of some kind
Remote start
Bedliner
Memory seats

I think we argue on just about everything else.

Interesting, Ford must do a better job on them than Chrysler then. On our van it can be hit or miss. Some signs can even reflect back bright enough to dim them. Which is not a good thing when going around a dark curve.

Yeah, there's always that option as well, but I'm one of the paranoid people that would leave it in gear all the time just in case the parking brake wasn't enough to hold the car. On top of that, even if I was on level ground, I'd be afraid I'd leave it in gear on accident and remote start it, only to find my car in a ditch or into another car (watched that happen to a coworker once, lol).

3.5 Eco
302A
Sport package
4x4
Navigation
Auto dimming mirror
Tail gate step(really had no idea how awesome it was until I got it)

haha. poor guy. ive made it habit many moons ago to not start my car with the clutch in so I always leave the car in neutral by default. Im too lazy to rig up a neutral safety switch but it would be pretty easy to wire one up. sorry for the thread jack. Back to options.

BLIS - Have come to really appreciate this feature when backing out of a parking space and there is a van or other large vehicle in the next few spaces blocking the view. It even warns of pedestrian traffic that is unseen yet also.

1- tailgate step. Could not work without it as I don't know how, but do more trips up & down the bed than to the beer store;
2- keyless entry, start-stop (wanted it to be #1);
3- backup and front camera with the option of giving a 180° view. Priceless! Bird's view is good too...
4- cross-traffic detection from various angles and far enough. Very useful in chaotic city traffic;
5- panoroof (mood inhancer);
6- heated steering wheel. Never thought I'd love it. Not #2 because it's only for very cold days.
7- motorized folding mirrors. Use it every day for parking in narrow streets or crossing with those dodge/ram #¥©§×@ extended mirrors.

Maybe it's a bit more options then most, but I truly use these ones extensively every single day.

For me it was the 302a package. I haven't heard anyone complain about that. I will say my absolutely no complaint option was the tow package. Going on 3 years and still loving my F-150.
