Too many people, in my opinion, go on the internets and ask people that don't know jack about things and then take their answers as gospel. Facts are facts.

My point is proved by reading what a poster said about Mythbusters, which is NOT what they found. http://www.discovery.com/tv-shows/my...l-consumption/

FACTS:

Tailgate closed is more efficient.

Tonneau cover is more efficient.

Any other answers are total BS.

The other reason to not engage the forum is simple - because the forum has been engaged numerous times on this subject and answered it. A simple search, using Google (this site's search is not optimal), will show you that. Site:www.f150forum.com SEARCH TERM HERE works great and you can do that for any website on the internets.
Thats it. Its been a few years since I saw the episode and didn't remember the outcome.

Hey, that's going on my list of things to look at later! Thank you! I didn't know Mythbusters did an episode on this.

they could have picked a better-looking smoke-machine holder though... Science and all is great, but damn, if you are trying to sell anything to do with trucks, at least put a hot chick in there somewhere...

That chic wasn't hot? I bet she smells like gravy. Mmmmmmm!

Why didn't they show the smoke being blown over the top of the vehicle with the tailgate down? They only showed it being blown in from behind the cab.

I totally agree with the rest of your post. But this part needs to be highlighted^.

This has been discussed here previously, several times I might add just as on every other truck forum.

The truth? Tailgate up, lightest weight tonneau for very slight increase in mileage, MythBusters is entertainment, not science.
