FWIW, my father has 2 oak trees on either side of his driveway. His 07 Chevy Colorado has tons of dings from acorns. Steel hood too.

Roof of my wife's 08 escape got them as well, back when we lived with my dad.

Must have been some big acorns. I've been stuck in pretty big hail and it hasn't dented the hood.
