Are the oil usage issues with the 18 5.0s solved ?
I’m very close to buying a new 18 KR 5.0 and I wanted this engine because my 13 Lariat has it
now I just stumbled across what seems like a boat load of people with knock and oil usage issues
has Ford addressed this ? Is it really common ??
I heard the EB were problematic but didn’t think the 5.0 was

Think of how many people own 5.0 f150's without 0 issues, and think of how many people are on this forum with them. There is a very small fraction with them, and there is still countless ones out there without issues. Personally I have noticed by truck using a little bit but not too much. I changed the oil at 1k, and at 4500 it was about 1/2 a quart low. Going to change back to amsoil next oil change instead of valvoline.

I’d avoid the 18 and try for a later build 19 if you can swing it. No guarantee the current 19’s will fair better but I would think Ford would be trying to eliminate issues as they go so as not to warranty additional trucks in the future.

I know at least a dozen people with 2018+ 5.0's, some are close friends some are just acquaintances, every single one of their trucks are using oil, some a significant amount some just a quart in between oil changes.
Only one of those people's
do not use oil, supposedly. Two of those guys are getting long blocks.
I know about the same amount of people with 2017+ 3.5 ecoboost and for the most part there's been little to no issues for them, with the exception of one guy that has the off acceleration rattle and another with iwe issues and one other guy that had a weeping oil pan.

If you get unlucky and draw the short straw you're going to kick yourself after spending 55k+ for a new truck with engine issues. I personally wouldn't buy a 5.0 until those issues are resolved. My buddy has new truck with a 5.0 having serious oil useage use and is extremely unhappy with probably having to replace the motor. Bottom line he knew about the 5.0 issues but figured the odds were he wouldn't have a problem... wrong!

Strange I hear so many stories of "my friends", and "my buddies" 5.0's are having issues . . .

I have an '18 Lariat with 5.0 and I "dont think" i have any engine issues. Though I havent looked into it to check oil consumption but I may start to look every now and then. There isnt a knock or a bang or any other funky noises so not bothering me.

So... does it just seems to be the engines with the rattle that use oil ??
And when looking how would you know ? The one KR 2018 I looked at seemed to have some noise at idle kinda like mild lifter ticking ,,, but I didn’t notice it driving
i agree spending 60k on a truck with known issues would not be smart but also it sounds like it’s just a few out of thousands
