It seems Ford is on track to do the right thing which makes me glad I own one. However, you need to decide what you want done.

if it was me, I'd be looking at a new truck. Like NEW. You could probably work a straight trade for a brand new or even special order XLT or lariat. (IIRC you bought a slightly used Platnium?)

I wouldn't touch a used vehicle after going through this. Although this used vehicle is such a headache you could probably go out and buy a truck with 500,000 miles and it would be fine LOL

I honestly just want what I paid for. I want my 10 year truck. Whether that is this truck or a different one. So far the selling dealer already has said that they will take care of this or get me another truck...either option is going to cost them. Will they comply without a BS arguement...I dont know, but I am ready for that. I am giving them the chance to correct the issue and get me my 10 year truck. I am going to assume they will weight thier options and choose the least expensive option, but I dont have to settle for that if it is not what I paid for.

Awesome that your local dealer seems to be taking up the slack. If you do end up with the same truck but new engine be sure to change your cabin air filter that's behind the glove box. Guessing that probably looks as black as the engine filter.

I think it's awesome how the nearby-ish dealer is taking care of you as much as they can. In the case where the vehicle cannot be salvaged, or heck, even if it can be fixed: Who pays? Do Ford dealerships have a similar policy to insurance companies with subrogation? IIRC in the past, dealerships are stand alone. Yes, they sell Ford products but any money loss/gained is on them. So if the (for lack of a better term) good guy dealership fixes it and takes care of you, do they go after the NY dealership? I'm interested to see how all this pans out for one, but who ends up paying in the end. Yes, your happiness and you being content is the priority, but from a business standpoint a lot can be learned.

umm no, I very much doubt it. If the local dealer is going to spend time and money fixing it, he is only going too do so if he is assured of being paid by either the owner or by Ford. No dealer in their right mind would do it gratis and then try to claim from the other dealer. In fact they have no contractual relationship with the other dealer to make any claim.

As much as I wish it wasnt true, I agree. The local dealership while trying to help me as much as they can are not going to do anything that Ford will not cover. From a buisness standpoint, why would they. It would not make any sense. The Assistant Service Manager expressed his concern that he is trying to push things through Ford, but is concerened that Ford will kick it back and say it needs to be handled by the local dealer. SO, is the locla dealer trying to help me...absolutely, but I dont not expect they will do anything that will cost them money that Ford wont pick up.

I also do not think that they will square a deal with the selling dealer to fix the issue. I just dont see how that would work and not put the local dealer at risk. Im being relaistic and understand buisness, so I would not fault the local delaer for saying "Sorry, we cant do anything more" But the point of the matter is they tried thier damndest to help...and that is worth alot to me and I appreciate it and will be putting a call into the GM and Ford to tell them how much I appreciate it.

That local dealer has already done more for you than the selling dealer has. Sounds like all you have gotten at best is a little lip service from the selling dealer!

Oh please tell me I am not the only one that thinks this is fake...The fact that it just ended up in my email after I left another VM on the Sales Manager phone...I'm pissed and amused at the same time...
