Default Oil Pan on 2018 & 2019 Engines, Plastic or Aluminum?

As I understand it, the newer versions of the 3.5 Ecoboost engines (After about 3-18-2018 or some such date) are now coming with an aluminum oil pan. My question is, Are the newest 5.0 V8's and 2.7 Ecoboost engines made with aluminum oil pans? I have a 2017 3.5 Ecoboost engine that is now leaking oil.

I have not personally checked my 18, but I believe it is plastic according to my service advisor- it's an 18 5.0- and yes, I hate it and will be going back to aluminum once it comes out, if not already

Mine is plastic also on my 18 5.0. Plastic is a joke. I hope they improve the design. It's a joke

My 18 5.0 that was built last November has a plastic pan. To my knowledge, they didn't change the 5.0 pans at all for 2018's. No clue about the 19's. I was so pissed when I got under the truck to do my first oil change and saw the pan AND PLUG were plastic. The plug material / design is what really got me. That's make or break stuff for me when buying vehicles... had I known that, I wouldn't have bought it.

I read that Ford temporarily switched to aluminum oil pans while they sorted the crappy plastic one, but who knows. We'd have to hear from 2019 owners, to see if they still have them. I was under the impression BOTH 5.0 and 3.5 were switched in late March, but not sure about the V8. Fortunately, my June-built truck has it, but man, stupid Ford left the freaking drain plug right above the sway bar, and made a royal mess when changing the oil. I don't like those valves that you open, so will have to come up with something next time.

I have a 2018 3.5 Ecoboost that I purchased in August of 18. I believe the build date was May or June of 2018. Did my first oil change last weekend, and I have an aluminum oil pan on the engine. (transmission looked like it had a plastic pan.) Before doing the oil change, I looked up a few "how to" videos on how to change the oil and everyone I watched the truck had a plastic oil pan. I was very relived when i crawled under my truck and saw the aluminum pan!

Last I heard, the oil pick-up on the aluminum pan was different than the plastic pan so they would not be interchangeable. I am not sure if swapping the oil pick-up as well as the oil pan would work or not.

I took my truck in for it's second leaking plastic pan replacement a week ago. When I made the appointment, the service manage mentioned that Ford has updated the design of the plastic pan to prevent it from leaking. Something about a lip being added IIRC. I guess I'll when I go to change my oil next time.
