Oil Leak on 2017 2.7 <3,000 miles?
#21
I have a 15 2.7. Dealership replaced the oil pan seal, on first oil change, and plug. Next oil change the top of the oil filter canaster and changed the skid plate. Because the technician stripped all the screws and it was dragging.. After that No Issues. No oil leak.

Good morning all! I was prepared to perform my first oil change this morning but after pulling the fiber oil pan cover I noticed oil dripping from the bell housing and oil pan. Ended up being a pretty disappointing morning with scheduling a visit to the Ford service department.
This is the first I have heard of this for the 2.7, as I have only seen topics on this for the 3.5s. Anyone else have this going on...?

Well I have sent another email to the dealership but have yet to hear back from them. Not expecting to hear much due to Hurricane Irma on the way and I'm in Central Florida. Either way, not sure I want to bring it back to the same dealer to perform the repairs...

I have a 2015 with 2.7, taking it in next week for oil pan leak. This will be the 3rd time they have replaced my pan. There is no gasket they just use silicone sealant. Its obviously not worth a crap!!!

If this isn't resolved on the 3rd one for me I will go the route of the lemon law.

couple of things your dealer sucks.
where in FL are you (PM if you wish) and I'll ask my uncle who he uses but I know it's not apopka. I think he goes to Ft Pierce (which I know is probably a ways for you) but my cousin works there. long story.
anywho they most likely told you they replaced the rear main but did you actually see the parts. I bet they "charged" for replacing it and didn't.
If I recall correctly many of the newer ford engines will weep oil when overfilled. - on purpose. and if you drained it out - it will continue for a bit because I think were it weeps is from the head but I could be wrong about that need a diagram. But I've seen that on the 2.0 ecobost and 2.0 NA mills and the 3.5L ecoboost. There are SB's about this.
I would be sending your pics and e-mail for Ford Customer Service NA - and I would hope one of their readers - reads this forum. I know they read the explorer forum.

If nothing changes I'll send the email as you suggested to ford.
Thanks for the tips and I'll keep you updated.

I believe there is a thread that states the oil pan is a one time uses
Seal torque only once not to be reused

Whether it's 2.7 or 3.5 the problem is similar. Ford's implementation of the composite oil pan got issues. I had my 3.5 oil pan replaced and it lasted 7,000 km before developing a new seepage at a new spot. Going in for second oil pan next week.
The tech I spoke with said they have been replacing these oil pans at a regular pace.
