i searched the forum, but couldn't an answer to this specific question (probably just missed it). just curious what brand oil filters you guys use.

 

Motorcraft. Good enough for Ford, good enough for me...

 

 

Motorcraft. Cheap at Walmart, cheaper in bulk from Amazon, and they work well. Some of the other filters (especially the orange ones) have been shown to have less filter media and questionable anti-drainback valves in the past.

 

that's what i am concerned about- the lower filter media and the anti-drain back. i worry about those possible "dry" start-ups..

Motorcraft. They're good filters and when my 2.7 needed to be replaced they specifically asked me if I had been using mc filters . My engine uses a cartridge filter though .

 

About 2 years ago I asked the same question to a friend of mine. He has 2 radio shows and one of them is automotive.(John Rush) He told me to check out the NAPA gold oil filter. I did a search on it and also found an article on the best oil filters. They all said the same. The NAPA was the best filter out there. If you don't know do a search on it and tell us what you find in that search. That is about the only think I get there because of there pricing. But I have had no oil problems and I put a lot of miles on every month.

If you're gonna do you own oil changes, its WIX or NAPA gold.
Whatever you do stay the hell away from Fram.

With my truck, I let Ford change my oil for no hassle warranty reasons so its Motorcraft.
