Y'all could buy extras from the dealer for less than $3. At least in my area.

People get extra plugs in case they get damaged or lose them. It happens.

I have had the shoulders on one strip off where I needed vicegrips to remove it. Driving to get a replacement is best done when the drain plug is NOT removed with no oil in the vehicle. I keep a spare drain plug in each vehicle pocket. Call it cheap insurance.

on the ecoboost yes. specifically on the 2.7L - since it's not a structural oil pan it's a plastic pan with a plastic plug. that you actually can get off by hand if you want to. Well if you can grip it well - I used a pair of needle nose pliers as my hand would.

Ford is no stranger to plastic oil drain plugs. The 6.7 PowerStroke diesel has used them on/off depending on sump pan construction.

How about a link? I found Fumoto site but they don't list a part for the F-150 2.7.
