Default Oil change: Oil stuck in engine?

This is the second oil change I have performed on my truck. Following the proper drain back procedures while engine oil at operating temperature on vehicle ramps.

The first time I add 6qts as per manual and when I checked it was above the cross hatch marks so I used my siphon to bring it back in spec.

This time I only added 5qts and it is dead centre of the cross hatch mark.

What gives? Is not all the oil draining out of the engine?

Ramps for all four tires or just the front?

The 2.7 takes about 30min for all of the oil to drain back to the pan.

I usually only Jack up the front about 3-4" so the oil pan tilts back slightly. I have the 5.0 and this works well.
This may be a dumb question but are you changing the oil filter too.....and if you are, are you adding new oil before you change the oil filter? Only thing was thinking is the filter will hold darn near a quart of oil so if you are adding and checking before changing the filter maybe that's your issue.

I've never known a vehicle that wasn't supposed to be level when draining the oil. That also goes for checking it.

Ramps on front only but with *** end on sloped driveway. My eye says its pretty close to level.

Yes changing filter too.

I waited an hour for it to drain, 30 mins to check after a short idle to warm things up.

Oil level was checked on level ground not on the ramps.

I mainly tilt it to get the oil to drain backwards when I pull off the oil filter. The silly plastic catch allows it to flow forward and backwards so I make it go the way I want. In doing so I noticed the oil pan drains a little more out as well.

I level it before putting the new oil in. Since I use a Jack I don't have to start the truck, I just lower it back down...

I should add that actual amount added was 5.25qts or 5L, but it still seems off.

Check it after the filter media has time to saturate.

Are you attempting to remove oil from the sump by sucking it out via the dipstick tube? If so, are you aware that you cannot access oil in the pan via the dipstick tube because of an anti-drain back valve preventing dry starts with the auto stop/start feature.

It is the valve feature that requires the long wait allowing the sump to fill & provide an accurate oil level on the dipstick after running the engine after an oil change.
