Oil Change
Howdy y'all,
Sorry if this has already been posted, but I couldn't find it. Is anyone waiting the recommended time before an oil change? 7,500-10,000 miles seems excessive for a synthetic blend oil. Normally I run the synthetic blend at 5,000 mile intervals. I'm not very comfortable going that long...

Trying to figure it out!
I don't. I'm also a mileage person but I like to waste money so I only go 4,000 miles on a change. WalMart, as much as I hate them, carries Mobile1 fully synthetic for something like $24 for 5qts so the cost isn't bad overall. And I only drive about 12k a year so total is only about $90 a year for me.

I did my 1st one at 3k miles.
Its up to you on what you do....
I used Mobil 1 Advanced Syn. 5w-30, as O Reileys price matches Wally Worlds prices ( I HATE Wal-Mart).... Ill wait till 11k miles to change it again. Currently at 6500 miles now...

Personally I don't think ford would put that recommendation in the manual if it wasn't safe. But at the end of the day it's your truck so do the maintenance when you feel comfortable doing it.
I find it funny though that if you pay for the extended maintenance plan oil changes get done at 8000km or 6 months. Of the 4 oil changes I've had in 17 months my oil life monitor has never been below 50%

Do y'all ever look at the Oil Life Monitor? Are you any where close at 3000-4000? I'm not...
I set, as a minimum parameter, at least 2 changes per year and no more than 8K miles between oil changes, whichever comes first, and also, I make sure that I don't exceed the "Oil Life Monitor" recommendation, which has not even come close for the first year and first two changes and 15,000 miles. This means that I averaged 7500 per oil change, but it was probably more like 7700 then 7300 for the second change. I switched to Motorcraft full synthetic on the second change just for turbo insurance. After my free change, I do my own changes. Too many experiences with so-called pros. over filling. Bought full synthetic from the dealer much cheaper than Amazon.
I feel like I may be going overboard on changing oil, but compared to some of you folks, I'm a rebel. I understand being cautious, but 3000-4000 miles! REALLY! What is the oil life indicating every 4000? Mine showing probably almost 75%. Seems like way overkill and lots of extra $$$. I thought everyone knew that the 3000 mile dealership scam had been long communicated to most everyone.

Lots of people feel comfortable following the manufacturer's recommendation and using the OLM. There is no reason to change it sooner. I use a Motorcraft filter and Mobil 1.

I think it's worth considering if it's mostly highway or city driving. If your doing a lot of short trips, it might be worth it to change a little sooner than highway driving.

Normally I would just go with what the manufacturer says, but Ford doesn't have an early oil change during break in of the engine, and then put down 7,500-10,000 miles on synthetic blend. That's why I was questioning. I'd rather ask the question, than in 100,000 miles something happens and I wonder if I had changed the oil more frequently if it would've prevented it. Just seemed peculiar so I figured I'd ask the question. Thanks for the help!
