I use blackstone only because that's who I started with many moons ago and have used sense. I believe there is another few companies out there.

...One of the biggest things on the 2.7L is the cartridge oil filter - it's awesome at it's job and is a contributing factor in the oil life.
I hope they move to this on the other engines soon. Only thing better would be a straight up dry sump system and remote filter - which I also am a big fan of. Cost is high though.

I'm luvin' the 2.7 cartridge oil filter...easy access, no mess, an almost identical carry-over from their Powerstroke engines. Also a fan of dry sump lube systems with large capacities.
Digressing a bit...I flew with Wright R-3350 radial engines with 56 gallon dry sumps (each of two engines) 'back in the day'. After long patrols, it was common to refill each sump with 25-30 gallons of Shell oil.

You old dog
There's a cut away of one of the Boeing Stratoliners that shows the door in the cabin where the flight engineer would walk into the middle of the wing so as to access the backs of the engines to do MX or add oil.
Trips people out to see that but I like it.
