Thats crazy to go down from a good 14 to an average 17. The 14 is a better truck, at least mine was compared to my new 16 502a. Would much rather have the 14 501a, much more comfortable and better handling.

A gen 13 feels the same or better after you've dumped a few grand upgrading stuff.

Where in Texas might this platty be?? And if nothing else... you considered picking this thing up and then trading it for an 18? The equity would be pretty damn good.

And you would have been raped with your trade-in value. They would have given you auction wholesale and would have sold you the '18 at sticker. They are not doing A/D/X/Z plans on them, yet.

I told my local dealer Capital's price and they said if you can buy it for that do it because we can't touch it. So i did. I used the Hillsborough location and it was the best buying experience ever.

Old man's dealer (and about 99% of them) try to pull the same crap where the "13K in discounts" include the regional rebates and package discounts. The sales guys at his outfit are, in all honesty, crappy and slimy scum buckets. Finance isn't mostly because its run by old farts and they know that they need to come clean for the entire sales staff and be truthful if they want to close the deal.
I got his D plan code and used it to leverage it when I negotiated on my 'MY 15. A/D-plan is a huge pain in the @$$ for dealers and hate going that way (tons of paperwork including proof of relationship with the sponsor, paystubs, proof of residency in order to qualify for regional rebates, internal ford forms, etc, etc).
I walked in to another dealer and said "D plan is this much discount, with all rebates the total off is X". Knowing how many D-plans the dealer I was at fubar'd in the past, I said "you wont have to deal with the hassle of more D-plan paperwork and you wont need to call me three months from now because your sales guys lost my d-plan code or you lost Ford's form <insert form number here>".
"What number do you have in mind?"
I walked out with a 302A, 30K out the door including TTL and finance including 6500 in trade-in. Why the useless raillery? Know the rules of the game and use them against them. Forget about truecar, true delta, KBB, whatever. They dont work and stealers will ignore them/you if you walk in like a macho "well KBB says the truck is worth this much".
Know how much trucks are selling for in your nearest large city and cross shop across towns if needed. The industry reached its peak last fall, and sales are projected to drop 8-10% compared to last year, and they're only going lower. Its definitely a buyer's market and dealers are starting to sweat. I say they will reach full panic mode in a year.
Another useless factoid. The local Ram dealer is offering 25% MSRP, with a year of car-washes, a year of scheduled maintenance (basically an oil change) and a yeti cooler (LOL, that one made me chuckle).

Almost every other segment is down, but trucks remain hot sellers.

DISCOUNT JEDI MASTER
Now my tires barely touch the asphalt and I'm averaging 147 mpg. My truck started airoplaning on the highway the other day but I managed to stay in my lane and got 252 mpg.
