I don't think I've seen that issue. I pretty sure I saw your post about getting 3" of lift at the 2" setting in another thread. With the Fox 2.5s I got just about what they said I would, 2-1/4". I snapped off a picture of my CV angles for you to compare them to. IMO that's what is the important when a truck is leveled. My CV angles are not horribly radical but more then I like.

The 6112 are the ones that include the spring correct? Is your truck a RCSB? Perhaps the spring rate is not correct for the lighter truck.

Would you mind describing what you did with color matching the doors rear pillar trim piece? That looks great. I have thought about vinyl wrapping mine, but i am extremely unsure how that piece comes off without damaging it. Sick truck man!

Use Molding & Trim tools to pop off the panel. Prep & Paint with OEM Ford paint. Put painters tape in the gap between body and panel (see pics) to prevent possible scratches when removing or just be extremely careful...It's really very easy.

Default The End of an American Classic?

Are we near the end of an American classic? The 2019 Chevy has been announced. There is nothing more classic than a RCSB Chevy from 1940 to today. There have even been songs written about it, but according to what Chevy has just announced, the only regular cab will be a long bed. It will be only in the lowest trim out of 8 trims. It will be only in carryover power trains (4.3L V6 and 5.3L V8 with 6-speed), while Chevy will move the higher trim levels with more doors and seats in to the future with respect to power trains and other technologies. In fact, in the lowest trims, the 2019 Chevy, according to their own released data with the 5.3L will lose mpg as compared to their truck today but with the same output and torque and not much more payload or max towing. In other words, a super old truck with respect to a lot of the engineering that goes in it. The rest of their line gets Dynamic Fuel Management, a turbo engine choice, 8-speed and 10 speed transmissions, but they plan on making the regular cab a real sacrifice in a new truck; whereas with Ford, there are three power train choices with short bed and four choices with long bed. Ram has remained hush hush about regular cabs for the future of Ram 1/2 tons, but the new design has no regular cab. The old design is supposed to be manufactured through 2019. I assume that the Ram regular cab days are numbered. There is a Nissan Titan regular cab, long bed, but I've never seen one on the road. I have seen a Tundra in a work trim and it was/is a really good looking truck, but Toyota has quit building it. Does that mean Ford will be the only manufacturer left to sell an American classic, or will Ford succumb and discontinue theirs as well? These are sad times.

Every picture on this thread represents an absolutely gorgeous truck to my eyes. They are so rare and so beautiful! The symmetry and sizing are just perfect; maybe just a tad lower than stock would be the perfect-sized pickup. A regular cab is also a more personal vehicle. It's a man's truck (I mean man in the generic sense; not gender specific). The bigger trucks are family vehicles and towing champs due to their long wheel bases. They take a huge cut in payload capacity though. They are luxury sedans with a bed attached to the back. They are great for heavy towing; for taking the big travel trailer or big boat with the family out close to the water, so I get why some people want them, but they are not a truck as a truck was originally designed like the full-size, regular cab short and long beds. To each his own, but there will never be a truck like a regular cab is a truck. It's as American as apple pie, but it seems to be going away. The extra cabs and the crew cabs are like a hot dog with chili and slaw; it's a variant of an American classic, but it is not an American classic, and one day they'll all be crushed for recycling value. Regular cabs will be restored and will have huge value, even as their original value maybe only one-third that of a monster truck.

I especially like the F150 XL white truck with cheap work trim with black bumpers and all black grille. I see them often driven by road construction crews and our state's DOT, and it's so funny that some of the best-looking trucks I see on the road today are driven by fleets. Fifty-five thousand dollar monstrosity pickup trucks are a dime a dozen. I'd rather be caught in a Smart-For-2 than a big-a** pickup truck. If I won a luxury monster truck and ended up with one free, I'd sell it and buy a regular cab or two. They look better to me, they are far more practical; they are faster, because they are lighter; they are more urban mobile; I can reach the bed; I can clean it without a ladder and without taking a day off to do it. They fit under standard carports or garages; they are far cheaper to own and operate. And they are nearly extinct. I do prefer the aluminum silver wheels over the work wheel covers, but I prefer the black bumpers over the chrome or sport bumper trim in a short bed and 2WD or 4WD (the 2WD is only 1" lower). Overall, the cheapest truck for F150 is the best-looking trucks that they build in my eyes; especially when one sees a price at or about $27.7K versus $60K plus for a monstrosity of a personal vehicle.

However, it's not just the Ford's that I adore. I appreciate seeing a Ram 1500 regular cab; especially the short bed. Looks great! I see Chevy's and GMC's everyday I get out and drive; but all of those are going away. It's a sad day.

I agree with you; I have my truck for the bed and towing capability. I don't know how people with the 5.5' beds manage (mine's only 6.5 right now, but I want 8'...there wasn't one on the lot when I was buying--I have to leave things propped on the tailgate or drive with the tailgate down sometimes). My 2012 RCSB has almost as much room behind the seat as the older-generation Nissan Frontier extended cab I had previously--though the behind-the-seat space is reduced on the current generation F150 RCs. I like the RC a lot--but based on sales numbers I realize I'm a little weird. It may be that the RC market is so small Ford will have it to itself as the others flee. I doubt the RC will disappear entirely, although because of EPA gas mileage targets, the RCSB might dwindle further.

The first pickup I rode in was my neighbors mid 1940's Chevy RCSB. This was back in the days where nobody thought twice about kids riding in the bed. We called it our country convertible.

I don't think Ram has released the next generation of a RCSB either. I would not be surprised if they don't quietly kill them off too. Then Ford will very likely follow suit on the next generation.

EDIT: I did do some research and it does sound like Ram will continue building RCs after the plants get tooled up. No information on short beds though.

Thanks for these regular cab posts.

Some think the new Ranger will take the place of the RCSB.

The "company" that I retired from has about 400 RCLB. So, thinking they will continue.

I've had three in my lifetime. A '72 F-100 Ranger and then a '95 F-150 XLT, before my current F150.
