Is a lease a good way to go with you have a negative equity around 8k? If not what would be the best way to get out?

No. That's 2-300/mo just in Negative equity plus the truck payment. Pay down the negative or put $8k down.

Just picked up my 2015 F150 XLT 4x4 tonight! Went to several dealerships and it boggles my mind how some can work magic while others aren't even close. Here are my numbers:

Model-XLT 4x4
MSRP-48655.00 before discounts = 47155 after XLT discounts
Selling price-42347.44
Residual%-68
Money Factor/APR-1.5% apr
Months-24
Miles-10500
Down Payment- $7015(trade) + $2000 cash rebate
Monthly Payment-$119.28

2 were willing to do similar deals...other 3 weren't even close. It's been a long day but I think I got a good deal. Could've taken the trade check and pay $416.88 a month. I probably would've spent that money on something else so decided to just use it as downpayment. It did save about $200 total in sales tax using it as a downpayment.

You may already know it but incase you don't... If, heaven forbid, you got into an accident and totaled that truck the money you put down is gone. The insurance or GAP coverage will pay the bank what they are owed but you get nothing. I have leased for a long time and the safest bet is pay your taxes and first months payment up from and nothing else. Your going to pay that money out but its better to keep it in your bank as long as you can. There is no sense tying up a bunch of your money in a vehicle that you rent.

My old man always said if you need to put a bunch of money down to make your lease payment affordable you are leasing a vehicle thats too expensive.

That said...

I haven't pulled the trigger yet, but I got an offer from a dealer today on a mostly loaded (Crew Cab, 3.5TT, Twin Panel) truck with MSRP of $56,650:

The payment on a 36 month lease and 12,000 miles a year is $481 with $3000 down. The residual is 62 percent with a value of $35,123(residual value). You would have the $3000 down plus first payment and license & registration.

I'm not convinced I want to put $3000 down, especially knowing the registration doesn't roll into the monthly payments.
