At this point I'll probably seriously consider the 2018, but love the look of the 17's too if a good deal came around. In a 1000 mile radius and a 9 month time period only 1 truck ordered the way I would spec ever hit a dealer lot and it unfortunately was shadow black.

Seems dealers don't like to order race red or max tow on Lariats for stock units
I don't think a lot of people realize that the max tow for '17 is cheaper than adding the parts and the 36 gallon tank.

I would wait for the new body style. But it will certainly cost you a few grand more to have it.

I hope prices don't go up too much, of course I say that and ford has raised prices every month this year except in April. Plus incentives on the lariat right now for non-military/non-first responder are only about 750-1000. I am in hopes they extend a mid-trim line like they have with the Edge and the Explorer SEL packages. Doubtful, but we can hope, anymore the Lariat comes with way more stuff than I will ever use... but I am sure it will only take a short time to not be able to live without them.

Most dealers I talked too didn't even know Max Tow packaged everything up like that, but then again they don't order things to be cheaper. One dealer I walked from was adding a dealer mark up to every state fee and to TT&L...

They tried to mark up those fees on a Ford A-plan? I don't qualify, so I haven't read the sheet on A-plan but I know that X-plan has a flat markup for doc fees, the rest is supposed to be whatever the state charges. I guess they know they won't get into much trouble, they just wouldn't be allowed to serve A-plan customers or something like that, but the whole point of the X-plan (for me) was "Price is X, it's a fair price and you know the final price before incentives at order time." Of course they tried to upsell on a bunch of crap ($325 to tint the front 2 windows, some snake-oil "protectant" crap, anti-theft ID stickers for another $300, etc.) And then give you the Jerry Lundegaard look when you don't want their add-ons.

Their a-plan doc fee was actually only 75 bucks, it's everywhere else they tried to make up not getting to do their standard add-ons (they mark up every vehicle on the lot 2K with stupid add ons) and having to take my a-plan order. I could not beleive they tried to mark up TT&L and fees. When the numbers don't add it up based on the tax rate it's blatantly obvious. I'd have to look at the A-plan rules again, but I don't think they make much of anything on A-plan.

Just thought I would post a follow up.

I have had her for just under a month. Great truck. Love everything about it. No issues with it.

I did have to take it back to the dealer twice. Once for a door ding and a small scratch that happened before delivery. Both repaired perfectly. The other was for a nick in the rim. They replaced it.

The truck looks beautiful. I get compliments every time I take it out. I went to a local bar a week ago. The bartender went from table to table to find out who's truck was parked out front. I thought Oh !! He just wanted to check out my truck.

So, with under 700 miles all is well. I am extremely happy that I special ordered the truck. It was worth the wait and I got a truck that is unique in my area and just what I wanted.

Do you think it is a problem that I have washed it three times and applied three coats of wax already?

Just ordered yesterday. On a tight budget and no dealers near here had any XL with tow packs and the 3.5EB, heck couldnt even find any like that in XLT. Everyone is carrying the 2.7 which just wasnt enough for my trailer and wants.

ordered:
2017 F150 4X4 SCrew XL with the 3.5 EB and 10 speed. Got it in Blue Jeans with the Chrome pack (wanted sport but not offered for this color). Added the Max tow and 101a pack along with the 110 outlet. Last minute decision was to add the back window privacy, defrost and slider and the bed liner. they are going to see about adding those even though the order was already processed. only ups the payment 2 buck.

Fingers crossed it will be here before July 1st for my first camp trip, if not the old Yukon will have to make one last trip. finding this site is going to be costly, already seeing your upgrades and mods are making me want to buy stuff lol

I have been kicking around ordering an XL vs going with an XLT. I however dont want the sport package and that was the only way to get sync 3. It also didnt have remote start, which is kind of high on my want list. It sounds like you have set it up very similar to how I wouldve. I look forward to seeing an update when you get it. Congrats!

i am not a tech guy really so didnt care about sych and other stuff. I also wanted the remote start, but cant be ordered with XL like you mentioned, although when my dealer gets the truck they are putting it in for me. Could get one cheaper at a local place but i want it warrantied by ford. Base XLT adding the similar towing i wanted was going to be 30-40 more a month for things i dont care about.

I got what i cared about, actually think i will like the vinyl floor. I get so much mud and food from kids, hunting and what not i think this will be better than carpet. needed tow power, decent payload and trailer break control. It was cheaper to get max tow versus regular tow and adding things it lacked... so 36 gal tank and back up cam are kind of bonus... really wanted the camera, makes hooking up the camper much easier

I drive a 2010 XL SCAB daily driver company truck. I really dont mind the vinyl floors at all. I will say though that today I rode in my coworkers xlt screw and it was quieter in the cab and rode softner. I would quess its quieter due to the carpet and rode better than mine due to the load range on the tires.

I think you'll be happy with your decision. This 2010 is what has me looking at Ford for my next personal vehicle.
