This is a picture I took for another forum question about lowering and extending the Ford running board that comes with, I believe the chrome pkg. https://www.f150forum.com/g/picture/5690029

Hope this helps.

Interesting - you have a '16 and it looks like you have the non tapered ones (that part number matches my straight flange brackets). Those are 5" boards right? I know saw '17s on the dealer lot 5" boards chrome and black still with tapered brackets.

I am pretty confident at this point it doesn't matter. I was a little worried at first that maybe the straight ones are for 6" boards since they can create more twist since they are wider.

Good to know, anyway

Found the difference in part #, it looks like the straight flange ones are part number 16470-AAW, and the tapered ones are 16470-EAW.

What it means for loading these things? Who knows. I put them on last night so I guess if one starts to bend I will find out sooner or later!

guessing the member 08drenalin was thinking his step bars needed an extra bracket on each side to give the heavier driver/passenger (i'm 250lbs) peace of mind that two brackets can't give... such is my case and i got and added a "center" bracket on my 2018 lariat step bars... the spot is there unused for another bracket on the cab - why not ???? got two brackets for $40 ish each and installed... now NO flex - NONE... ordered two FL3Z16A506AA (bracket with hardware)... glad i did !!!!
