I just installed a tailgate damper in my 15 XLT and I can tell you it works. The appropriate connection is there and after replacing the tailgate hinge, the damper installs just fine. took 30 minutes to compelte and that included a couple of beers

Installed mine tonight and love it. Got it from a local dealer for $66Can.

Easy install about 30 min. Disconnect review camera plug under truck by spare tire. Remove tailgate and passenger side tail light. Remove current bracket that holds tailgate on passenger side. Install new bracket and install shock behind tail light. Reinstall tail light, tailgate and plug review camera back in, your done.

I've always wondered if it was cheaper to buy that mount and shock as 2 separate pieces vs the Ford "accessory kit"
