The FORScan Guy
Congrats flsdiver! I've always wanted to see someone try this that didn't have ambient lighting and use FORScan to enable it.

? Video link in 1st post shows it in action. All i have installed so far is passenger console and front foot wells. More parts to come in Wed...more pics/video of those installs, as they will be difficult in console and doors.
I don't have pics, and not sure i want to disassemble the glove box again. sorry, should have done it, i got too wrapped up. cut is approx 12" by 3/8" just enough to allow the led bar part to go up into dash. The outer plate that sits flush on the dash is oversized by at least 3/8" to 1/12" on every side of that cut. This give some allowance for error in the cut you will never see, unless you really are not careful and make a huge mistake. It's also relatively out of site, you have to look up under there to see the bar. It's quite obvious once you would see the part. I used a large sized dremel cutting wheel/disk to do it, that make the wheel spin along the cut line at a 90 degree angle to the dash. Probably a 1 to 1.5" diameter? With that, you can make a fairly straight cut and trime with razor blade to make final fitting. I snap a pic of that part of how to place dremel and cut.

And, if I understand right, to retrofit this in an XLT that didn't have it, one has to pull wire to all LED locations? No factory wiring exists in the doors or other locations for trucks not equipped with the factory install of the ambient lighting?

You could order those harnesses and do it pure factory, but then you will have to rewire entire cab.
I have not been in the doors or center console yet to know exactly what needs to be done there, i presume the same. I will just run my own wires.
I have my own wiring harness run from BCM across the dash, and down both door sills to do rear seats and long enough to get into the doors. Advantage is, i can disconnect the BCM 3 wires, and i am totally back to stock should i have warranty issues.
I would say i have large amount of it done, with splits to center console and doors, but nothing wired on the ends yet. I think probably 24 hrs of wiring, soldering and cutting the dash for passenger console invested so far. As noted, will take 3 spools of about 50ft each of wire to do this. Of course it took probably 60 hrs to get service manual, find part numbers, figure out the BCM connectors, find the service pig tails, and plan my wiring. Tons of work, but really cool, and this is stuff i like to attempt.

Can you post a picture of the actual LED wire when you get them? Also, would you mind posting a large hi-res picture of the connectors/harnesses? I am struggling to see which connectors are which (the BCM picture).
I think I'll spring for this mod.
Thanks, appreciate it.
EDIT: also, what is the difference in the parts? Everything is the same for the exception of one digit:

Not sure of the doors or center console yet, this was from call out and parts guy. When i get those parts in i will verify correctness and snap some pics this time. All i had was this from fordparts.com and parts guy local looked stuff up in computer. D, E, F for the doors are the right parts i think, but i may have locations mixed up. I will know more and update once i get them. Please don't order this yet until i can verify, i would hate to tell you wrong.
