Default Odometer reading when picking up a new F150

Folks
My brand new F150 just arrived at the dealers lot today. I pick it up next week.

I went to look at it today and the odometer reading now is 69.9km (~40 miles). All plastic and stickers are on but why so many kilometers. Salesperson says Ford did extensive quality checking to justify this mileage to me. My last new car only had 16 km (10 miles) when I picked it up.

Have any of you picked up a brand new vehicle with this many kilometers ie is this reasonable that Ford put on this mileage for QA testing or could there be some other reasonable explanation?

Thanks
Bruce

My truck had 35 miles or so when I picked it up. They are driven short distances from the factory to shipping trucks, to the dealership, etc. Not a big deal.

When I first saw my truck it 5 miles on it, all the protective wrapping etc was still on it. When i picked it up a week later it had 40 miles on it, they took it to get the bed liner sprayed in so that's why it had more miles.

My 2017 F-150 STX only had about 15 miles on it when I drove it off the lot. About 30 miles later it broke down on the drive home from the dealership. It was towed back to the dealership and I was given the same exact brand new truck that I bought but in a different color.

I returned that truck with close to 100 miles on it when my truck was fixed. The dealer plate was taken off and it was put back on the lot as a brand new vehicle and I'm sure somebody else is wondering how their vehicle is brand new with 100 miles on it.

My truck ended up having a loose crankshaft sensor that wasn't plugged in properly from the factory which caused my truck to go into limp mode and then completely die.

The factory randomly does QC testing. They will drive vehicles on their test course for about 20 or so miles before delivering them to the dealer. A vehicle with less than 75 miles is normal.

I picked my 2017 KR up the day it was delivered and it had 16 miles. I asked the salesman about the miles and he said they "road" tested it.

230 miles, but it was driven 200 to deliver to me. I still didn't like those 200 miles.

I got mine with 768 miles on it. It's a lease so they have it in paper as 450 miles because they don't like them over 500 on a lease.
