Odometer reading when picking up a new F150
Folks
My brand new F150 just arrived at the dealers lot today. I pick it up next week.
I went to look at it today and the odometer reading now is 69.9km (~40 miles). All plastic and stickers are on but why so many kilometers. Salesperson says Ford did extensive quality checking to justify this mileage to me. My last new car only had 16 km (10 miles) when I picked it up.
Have any of you picked up a brand new vehicle with this many kilometers ie is this reasonable that Ford put on this mileage for QA testing or could there be some other reasonable explanation?
Thanks
Bruce

Ford very well could have picked it at random for extra testing. It could have also been driven a bit more between various rail and truck yards. I've had them roll off with 2 miles or a good bit more. In the end if the plastic and stickers are still on it, it's fine. They don't drive it in any other way than what they'd expect you to do the first time you drive it home. Check the engine hours to see if it's idled for a long time. Mine had like 2 hrs of idle time and 20 miles when I picked it up.

That sounds about right for QC testing at the factory. I've seen a sticker before on the windshield that said it was randomly selected and that's what the additional mileage is from.
On my '14 I picked up off the lot, that had sat for 10 months, had 4 miles on it. The '16 I ordered and saw parked right off the carrier, had 7 miles on it.

Mine, which I bought off the lot and did not order, had 23 miles on it when I got in to test-drive it, and it had not yet been dealer-prepped (still had plastic on seats and exterior trim, etc.).

I ordered my wife's Mustang and when we picked it up it had 29 miles on it.
