Obligatory how much will my truck tow? I got it weighed!
So I just filled my tank and got the truck weighed today. With all my normal day to day work gear (I am a computer guy) and the other crap I have in the bed of my truck, it came in a 5160 lbs. If I understand correctly, it is my GVWR that determines the maximum amount my truck can carry (occupants/gear/trailer). My GVWR is 6360 and my cargo capacity is 1609 lbs. Does this mean that the max total weight the truck can be (occupants/gear/trailer) 6360 lbs? Or is it 6360 + 1609? I wish I had weighed the truck before getting bigger rims/tires, so I know how much weight that added. I do not tow anything, but may drag a ski boat out to the river in the future.
Truck is a 2018 302A short bed RWD 2.7 with a standard tow package (4 and 7 pin trailer plugs, but no TBC), my frame is listed as a HD (not HDPP).
I have added:
Larger rims (went from factory 18's to factory 20's)
Larger tires (went from factory 265/18/60's to 275/20/60's)
BakFlip MX4
Spray on bedliner
Bed rug (just the bed floor and tailgate, not whole kit)
150-200 lbs of gear in containers in the bed
Can someone set me straight on what the truck's capabilities are?

6360-5160-225=975 lbs. This is the remaining payload including any tongue weight for a trailer. A jet ski will be very small for tongue weight. It could be less depending upon your weight distribution between the front and rear axles, but it would require new scale weight one axle at a time. I state this because most of your payload is probably on the rear axle.

Derp! Here I thought I could math... I will fix my OP for clarity (and so I don't look like an idiot).
All of the gear in the back of the truck is at the front of the bed, so would that be considered over the rear axle still?
I think I will unload all of my work crap (which I would not take to the river with me) and get it weighed again to get the best idea of what I have to work with. And I can see how much the crap I carry with me weighs

If you want to be truly pedantic, you need to weigh each axle separately so you know if you're over on F/R GAWR. Usually, you'll exceed read GAWR before you exceed GVWR, especially if you're loading up the bed or hooking up a trailer.
I'm pretty picky about this sort of stuff, but I think you may be overthinking it a bit, unless you're planning for a seriously large boat.

1609 is payload, meaning people gear and tongue weight. For example my payload is 1800 and I have a 4000lbs travel trailer with tongue weight of 400lbs.. 400lbs come out of available payload leaving me 1400 for people and gear. Yes you shoud go to a scale but I would only if I was close to my trucks max numbers. So many people at the boat ramp and campground way over what they should be because they follow the chart the dealership gives you without considering payload and gvwr, axles and ect.

And the curb weight of your truck with a full tank of gas is supposed to be the GVWR - payload. But since you weighed your truck as is, then by doing reverse math the remaining payload was calculated. Now try to find out your maximum trailer weight and it gets more confusing. Ha ha.

6360- 1609=4751, that is the as left the factory weight of your truck inc full tank of fuel. 6360-5160(current weight of truck with fuel and driver?)= 1200lbs, that is your remaining payload. So if your ski boat has 10%(very high percentage for a boat)tongue weight you can pull a 8000lb ski boat and still have 400lb of room for passengers or cargo. However before you hit the 8000lb trailer you will likely exceed the GCWR of your combo. I am guessing you have a 7k tow rating max and you would limited by that number first with your truck if towing a boat.
